So you've seen what are you listening too, what are you wearing, what are you watching, what are you reading, what are you playing...

To wash that all down, what are you drinking?

    Spot the alco!

I'm currently drinking my own saliva, there isn't much else going unfortunately. I'm considering going for broke and getting a glass of milk soon though.

I see a fundamental problem with this thread - most people drink in the pub, so unless they're really nerdy and have some form of web-access while there, it'll mostly be "AH JAYSUS I HAD 18 PINTS OF GUINNESS LAST NIGHT AND JAYSUS I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT I HAD AFTER THAT :confused:" or "HheehHEHehhah LOoelll guyzzz imm so fueckin PISSeD ju st inn FroM teh Pubbb IM DRirNKing CRANbERRi SCHANNAPS NOwwww whoooaaa why iss teh room danncin?? i gota go toilet"

Critic. And no playing spot the alco on this board.

This thread is a nod to the relaxation drinkers who'll tipple of an evening of their own accord, without paying beer-in-the-pub prices.

And anyway - I think I can respond best by saying...

    STFU KAIDS.

Not exactly at the moment, but I moved to Sydney a couple of months ago. Having previously drunk Guinness, Miller or Bulmers in the pub, I was at a loss as to what to drink over here.

    The Guinness is putrid.

Miller is not available on tap, so far as I can see, and is charged at "imported beer" prices by the bottle. You can get pint bottles of Magners, but they are a bit pricey. They do a cider on tap called Bulmers, but it's not the same.

So, I started sampling the beers available on tap in the different bars.

VB - Victoria Bitter. I don't like it, although a lot of the locals seem to love the stuff, bit of a nasty aftertaste. Oh, it's actually a beer, not a bitter.

Tooheys New. Is actually quite nice, and is one of the cheaper beers available in six packs, so if I'm staying in it's usually the "New'' I go for.

Carlton Draught. Tastes the same from the tap or the bottle. I like this beer a lot.

Hahn Premium. My favourite, pints of the stuff go down so easily.

Try Toohey's Pils (not on tap unfortunately (oh how i miss schooners! - get bottles in the bottle shop) - thought that was the nicest beer I had over there - and I'm a miller drinker here
Its more expensive than a lot of the others - but only by about $4

Just finished a bottle of Aventinus.

    Lovely 8% Ale-y type beer.

I'm currently deciding whether I have the balls to buy a bottle of Santa Claus beer when I'm in work tomorrow which claims on the label to be "The strongest lager beer in the world" and nods in at 14-odd%...

I'm fairly sure I had a beer a while ago that was upwards of 20% though, coulda been an ale, not quite sure...
