Knee cartilage

About a year ago i went to physio with my knee cos it was locking and very painful, after quite a few months with the physio i went to a specalist and after a few sessions with him i had an Arthroscopy to remove little bits of cartilage that i could feel moving around in my knee and was causing fluid to build up and made my knee swell up a lot. My knee was great for about 2 months when i felt different parts of cartilage floating around in my knee causing the fluid to build up and swell my knee again. The specalist said i had Chrondomalicia of the knee, which i think basically means wear and tear and that i will always have it. Has anyone here had it and any advice on it because i used to play soccer quite a lot, and ive hardly played since i first got it. I could have another Arthroscopy the specalist told me, but im pretty sure the same thing would happen again and the pieces of cartilage would come back.

About 5 years ago i had a few accidents happen relatively close to eachother. this resulted in my knee cracking (sound) every time i bent/flexed it.

sometimes my knee does swell and i can feel pressure on it.

Your weight and the amount of activity has alot to do with how it feels. I gave up rugby because of it. It was fine during rugby but periodically it would just kill me with pain and pressure. when i left rugby it never did it again. Even in the gym i have to watch myself when im doing leg presses or extensions because my right knee more than my left swells up and gets quite sore.

I would just recommend taking into account that your knee has been seriously damaged and wont be "perfect" so just keep an eye on what your doing and you shouldnt have that many problems.

My knee dislocated, don't know how else to explain it, a few times a while ago. When it happened I couldn't bend my leg cause the joint was f**ked and the knee cap was ouit to the side. I ended up just putting it back into place myself each time, but because of the injury my leg was really weak for a few days and so I was bedridden til the leg felt stronger or til the shock wore off.:D

I was invovled in very phisically exhaustive activity each time my knee "popped".

I decided it was probably because my legs were not used to the activity I was doing, so I gradually started walking, jogging longer and faster and the knee hasen't gone for a few years.

Occasionally my kness will hurt when I'm out, but when hiking up a mountain with a pack on my back for hours at a time I'm not to suprised.
