If you want to be involved in the boards.ie sekkrit santa this year sign up as detailed below !

The idea is you get a random person to give a present to and you in return will get a present from a random person ! Ive decided on a price range of 5-15 euro ( including postage ).This is just a guide ....you could make something if your really low on cash but you would want to put alotta effort into it !

To sign up email ssanta88ATgmail.com ( many combinations of ssanta seem to be taken?!?! ) with the following information. Dont email the address for information - ask in this thread!

-Boards.ie username
-Real name
-Address
-A list of likes
-A list of dislikes
-( optional ) An amazon wishlist ( if you want to be boring and pick something from a list )

If one of your likes is clothes or t-shrits ETC make sure to tell sizes

Your information will NOT be passed on to anyone other than the person whos buying your present ( unless you pull a scam )

Please only sign up if you intend to buy a present as well as receive one as it really would be unfair if someone got nothing ! If people dont get a present by say the end of december "deadline" tell me...remember I will have your names and addresses so I can call round and poke you in the eye with my...finger. No I wont do that but I could always post up yuor details for the whole internat to see and you wouldnt want that now would you ?

If I get enough replies I'll randomly match people up and send out emails in a week or two, keep it sekkrit! Dont go saying ooooo "username" I got you in teh sekkrit santa "

Sounded like a good idea before you started threatening to post personal details for the world to see. What if I volunteer, then I'm in an accident or have a bereavement (ie other more important things to do than to e-mail you and say I'm pulling out). You'll have my good name dragged through the net! Don't think so pal.

Well im obviously not going to do that....Just trying to turn people who would sign up simply to scam the thing off it. Im sure I would be able to tell if you were genuine or some evel nerd git.

how would we know who sent us the gift, when we recieve it ? or is it all a big mystery ?

should we put labels on the presents saying something like "merry christmas from herobear" or what, not knowing who sent us the gift when we've already received it, would be pretty crappy

My Dad is a postman, and he has told me that the postal service this Christmas is going to be really, really delayed if their planned stop on overtime goes ahead. The Christmas post is always ridiculously busy and by the time December 20th comes (the Monday before Christmas) it may be up to five days behind in some areas.

So, might I suggest that people have stuff posted before December 14th at the latest.

I think instead of posting likes, people should work it out by viewing the person's previous posts. Dislikes are still a good idea though.

Thanks for the sticky seamus. Loads of people who said they would do it in the other thread have yet to sign up ! cmon peoples ! I'll leave it open until the first week in December - then I'll send out the emails leaving you about two weeks to buy and send your present. As Embee said you would want to have them in the mail by the middle of December to get there on time.

Why not? Mail sent. Question - Is there a closing date for entries. Might be an idea to set one, and as Embee said, all gifts posted by a certain date.

At the end of November - that will leave around two weeks to buy the presents and send them on. Theres about 17 people signed up now. WAs hoping for more but it can be done with that many !

OK gimmick.

Just imagine that all the 17 names are in a hat. Tusky comes along with the hat and you draw a name out. Providied it's not your own name, you buy that person a gift. Tusky then goes along to another person with the hat. that person draws your name, they buy you a present.

I thought more people would have signed up too - theres a lil over 20 atm... Im taking part yes. You can put a card in with the present telling the person who you are and maybe a few golly christmas words !

I'm interested in signing up, but was wondering if you have to be residing in Ireland to sign up.
I'm currently living in the United States and guess it would be unfair to ask someone to have to pay postage over here. What do you think?
