What happened to wow1-6?

Looks nice, is it a resource hog though? If I can play, erm...*checks games*... FarCry, could I play HL2 with no problems?

LOL i know,to be honest i thought the first six screenies i took were from nice locations until i got to 7,8,9

It runs superb for me on this machine with anything from 40-90fps out in the rather large open spaces and up to 200 fps indoors.
NOTE: i have gfx settings running FSAAX2 and AAX8.
I havent tried with FSAA off but im sure it would yield lot better framerate,on the flip side im sure the screenshots would look so much better if i upped FSAA to X4 and AA to X16.
It runs a lot better than Farcry for me anyways so id say you be fine,
heres my spec so you can compare.

P4 2.8 800FSB,512 DDR muschkin,Radeon 9800 Pro.

Gah its so much purtier on your pc Im running it on athlon 1.8 - 512 DDR - radeon 9800 pro... Should I be able to paly it on anything higher than 800x600 ?

Everything on HIGH 1280x960 4x AA runs like a dream , doubt there many pcs that cant play this game at some level.

ATI get TWICE the framerate over NVidia cards...TWICE!!!

Runs savage on my system anyway. Im running it off S-ATA too so it loads in about 10 seconds or so...same as every other game i have...

If you can run Farcry then HL2 will be fine.

As plenty of people have already pointed out to you in the other thread (that you never replied in), those results are ancient and have been proven wrong. Check any of the myriad of newer reviews/articles since then. Results are on par for both brands. "Twice the FPS" is bull.

Please be aware of some tiny spoilers, actually no there is no spoilers really, just gameplay. If anyone wants me to remove the images and just show the links ill do that because of dialup or whatever. Been too busy playing to post screens, but just did some up there now

i been feelin motion sickness on the level you drive the boat, apparantly a load of other people been getting this too. The game must look too realistic or something, but from reading other forums hundreds of people felt a bit nauseated playing it

Yeah i got this too, I posted about it in the first impressions thread. Motion sickness is caused by the eyes taking in information which suggests that your body is in motion, but your balance sensor in your middle ear isn't getting the same readings, like when you are stationary in a car, but looking out the side windows. The conflicting signals induce nausea. So i guess it could be argued that it's a vote for the realism of the game, seeing as none of us have got it with other games.

you need a server to host it on first of all. you dont upload them to boards. there are some free ones out there, dont know the names of them though
once you have that done post the link here with image tags before and after the link





it will then show up in the thread.

i think i speak the truth when i say that screen shots don't do the game justice, heck even the hi-res bink video don't do it justice this game is beyond amazing the graphics are eye-watering (they really are) and they make me feel a small bit sick after about 1-2 hours play.

Actually, i didn't feel ill during the water hazard course but when on the bridge...i felt my head spinning and thought vertigo was setting in. :eek:

As for it being short, repetative and boring..... well, perhaps this isn't the thread for it!!!
