remember if you use something like Maxthon its realy IE
there are a few programs like maxthon that just add extra features to IE so vote for IE if you use one of them

Firefox. There's no going back once you get used to opening links in new tabs with the middle mouse button!

    Opera
I use mozilla on two (work) machines and firefox on one (home).

Mozilla has some nice features that firefox doesn't and the mail client / browser integration is great for work.

You could go sideways and (maybe) slightly upwards by choosing Opera. It has the same feature - very useful.

Does Firefox have the mouse gestures? They are the most incredibly useful thing ever in Opera - so used to it now that i cant use IE now at all!

I've just switched to Firefox after IE decided to start acting all haywire on me. I was getting JavaScript errors on most pages, and it would often crash on me for no reason that I could see. (For some reason, most often on the Boards homepage). So I decided that it had to get the boot.

BYE BYE IE, you heap of sh*te

Firefox 'coz I tend to open loads of browser windows and they're so much nicer when tabbed. Plus the ad blocker works nicely, although IE did most of that once I installed the Google toolbar.

What are these crazy mouse gestures that you're talking about in Opera?

    IE.
Looks like i'm the first one to use it by choice. :)

Mouse gestures - in opera, you hold down the right mouse button and move the mouse in a certain pattern to do certain actions.

    eg,
left (just move the mouse left) goes back
    right goes forward
down creates a new (blank) window
down and right (like an L) closes the current window
down and up duplicates the current window
up and down refreshes the current window
right and up goes up a level or goes to the next thread on a bb

there are more but those are the ones i use most often.

Have flirted with Firefox when it was Phoenix 0.5 but went back to IE/Mozilla. Was hooked when Firebird 0.6 came out though.

if you get the zipped version of firefox and put it on a disc you should be able to use it in the office and i doubt they would notice you are using a differnt browser

    Should be multichoice poll.
I use Opera at home (fast fast fast, proper tabbing, reopens whatever page(s) you were on in the event of a program or system crash, bookmarklets) and Firefox at work, except for sites which only work with IE.

There's a strict (read: anal) list of allowed software on PCs here. MSN is allowed, AOL is not, Firefox good, Opera bad etc. That said, I use a much faster PC at work, so the speed difference is not so noticeable as on the ol' dear at home.

You can get "open in IE" extension for Firefox. Right click the page and hey presto its in IE if it doesn't work in Firefox.

A lot less sites are becoming FF friendly though. Generally I don't visit the site again if it only works in IE.

I tried FF a few months ago to see what all the fuss was about - it kept crashing !! When it was working it was slower than Safari and didn't offer anything that Safari couldn't do.

Not a huge fan of IE either to be honest - slow - no tabs - top bar not very configurable - no popup blocker - and a pain to use.

Don't know how people who browse Boards can use Internet Explorer, have had to use it once or twice and I had windows EVERYWHERE :( Whereas with Firefox I can keep all my threads in nice tabs in the one boards.ie window, and be able to switch easily between boards and whatever other websites I'm viewing.

i guess so few using IE is an indication of how tech savy boards users are
