Moi.....3rd year Science but it's my first year here (I'm one of those "special" transfer students)

So far I hate it....yay!

Ah no hate's a strong word.....I just miss CIT.

ah it's not so bad (i've been here 5 years!), gettin a bit tired of it all the same...
i'd say it's hard going from a cork city night life to Maynooth, especially coming in at 3rd year.

    Doin engineering myself, 4th yr.

    4th engineering here too...

Yeah it is....especially when the class is so small and no one really seems to get on that well. But I've just moved in with some sound people so hopefully my social life will get a bit better.

Other than that Maynooth is a beautiful place....especially now with Autumn (okay so it's November now but still looks like Autumn)

    im 2nd year media

maynooth is great for everyone who lives there but bein a commuter is like livin in another world.

    and bein treated differently.

i pretty much hated it last year and only survived by hookin up with other commuters.(half of whom dropped out)
its easier this year but still not half as warm or friendly as everyone says..

maybe the good old days r gone

    Used to goto Maynooth.

Founded Mikado :). Website is http://www.mikadosoc.ie/ if you want to know.

Mikado moved off of the college network last year to Hosting 365 (the same people that host boards.ie) in order to make it more independant.

Mikado was founded as an engineering society but the popularity of the forums resulted in it being changed to the Online Society.

A new logo has been create and a new webpage is in the making.

where the hell do u engineering lot hide??

i have not met one engineerin student since ive been here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,435 ✭✭✭ixus

We're a rare species alright, you know that big building beside the canteen, that's our place. we hide there most of the time, but come out for lectures every now and again (but mainly just to look at the talent!)

I must say, I really appreciate the lengths that the ladies are going to over the last 2 years, particularly this year. With quite a few of them wearing skirts and dressed like their heading straight to the glen after their lec!

All is forgiven gobby, seeing as an honours degree in maths (that's NOT applied maths crap) is probably one of the best degrees you can come out with, especially if it's a science one....

Yeah I used to commute. It was a bitch. Really felt like I was missing out on a lot of fun, cos all the interesting stuff was going on after the bus left, and getting home after a night of drinking in Maynooth was impossible.

I think it's a lot harder for commuters (I know a lot of them that dropped out too).
