24 hour shops etc. in Dublin

Having found myself dithering at 4am today and needing a 24 hour shop, I went online thinking it would be a simple thing to find out, but no, nothing in Ireland is simple.

So...I am going to put up a page myself listing 24 hour places in Dublin - shops, petrol stations, pharmacies (if any), eateries etc..

If anyone knows of any, can they post them here and I will hopefully get a page up tomorrow.

A few Tesco branches are not 24 hour during the week. Clare Hall, Blanchardstown, ClearWater (I think). The 24 hour opening is only during the week: 8am Monday until 10pm Saturday, AFAIK. Check their site for more details.
Some branches of Dunnes and Superquinn may have followed suit.

I think some arcade places are open 24 hours - in Coolock (beside UCI cinemas) and one in Blanch Centre, beside library.

Hey newgrange, great page, but just to clarify the Tesco thing...

Yes, the Tesco supermarkets are fine, but specifically, the Tesco filling stations in Clearwater and Clare Hall are not part of the supermarket and have their own little shops, which are available 24/7.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 568 ✭✭✭newgrange

Thanks DMC, I'll correct that now.

    Thanks to all who contributed.
Google are now showing results for '24 hour Dublin' which might have been useful (for me) the other morning. I have mailed a few Head Offices and hope to add any info they send later.
I forgot Internet Cafés, so will add a section for them later too.

There is a Pharmacy in Dunlaoghaire shopping centre I don't know if it's 24hrs

that's handy thanks!! that's something I was wondering the other day.. in Cork there are a few that are open late.. but not 24hr.. never know when u need something ;)

I'll be out in Dun Laoghaire later today and I'll ask them. I suppose a list of latenight pharmacies would do if there are none that are 24 hour.

I've contacted a number of the convenience store companies for a definitive list of their 24 hour shops, but you know, this is Ireland, and it's that new-fangled email thing and often no-one bothers checking it, let alone replying.

there's a petrol station with a Super-Q (mini-superquinn) between st. vincents and booterstown (just next to the dart crossing right by the sea) which is touting (or at least used to) itself as 24 hour. is that nay good to you? think it might be the rock road by then, but not sure.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 568 ✭✭✭newgrange

Thanks a lot. I will find out from them if they are.

The Unicare pharmacy in Dun Laoghaire Shopping centre mentioned above is open 9 to 9 Monday to Friday, and 9 to 7 on Saturday.

They told me that to their knowledge there is no 24 hour pharmacy in Dublin, so I will put late-night pharmacies on the page when I redo it at the weekend.

The new Esso Station on Strand Road in Sandymount is advertising itself as a 24 hour Off Licence, though I haven't been anywhere near it, late enough to vouch for it..

Esso/911 on grange road in Rathfarnham is 24 hours (or so they say)
Statoil on Taylor's Lane is 24 too, afaik...

Around the centre of town, there are loads of 24 hour centras/spars. The spars in particular keep popping up everywhere. Also, there's that shop on grafton street thats always open when you're going up there at about 4 in the morning...

Was Googling for 24hr places in Dublin and every result that comes back is way out of date. So thought it's time to update this thread as it's been approx. 5 years since the original post and lots of the places listed have changed.

Does anyone have any new places to add?

P.S. Wasn't sure whether to start a new post or bump this one. I went with the latter obviously.

To add, the petrol station on Ringssen Rd is supposed to be 24hr as well. Along with the petrol stations on the Finglas Rd, thats 3 if you're ever hungry :)

Tesco, in general, i think they're all 24H. If not all, the one in the Square, Tallaght definitely is.

Nah not all of them by a good long way. All the bigger ones tend to be, though.

Off the top of my head, 24h Tescos that I know of:

    Clarehall
    Clearwater
    Dundrum
    Tallaght

    and shops/garages:

    Top Garage Malahide Rd
    ESSO Malahide
    Texaco Garage R132/Opposite Airside, Swords

I think the station beyond swords on the old M1 is also a 24 hour as is the one on the swords road at airside.

Yeah the 24 hour on Sth Richmond Street has been gone for at least two years now.

There's a new one just around the corner on Harcourt Road, between Subway and Abrakebabra. Not a great selection, mostly odd-looking eastern packaged foods, but if you need cigarettes or a bar of chocolate or whatever it'll do.

I have to say, I've passed that shops loads during the day and night and never seen anyone in it.
