    Do they save on costs?
    Average installation cost
Can they produce 230V without need for batteries

Depends on how they work. They could be a permanent magnet DC generator with batteries and then an inverter. That's how i'd imagine that private machines would feed the local installation.

To feed DC into the grid as AC, you'd have to have some kind of inverter/chopper (which I haven't yet studied!).

They don't save on electricity (unless you use only a tiny amount)
They don't produce continuous 230V AC because the wind does not blow all the time and often times is at different speeds.

You could get airtricity if you want green electricity.

If you live in a remote windy area then it may be worth looking at if you can't get mains electricity.

Batteries are used to stabilise the supply when there is no wind or it's gusty or if it's too windy
