I feel it appropriate to mention that the site was intended to be up and running months ago, before we realised we'd have better luck getting someone else to do it, so the current content is a little sparse on some points. There'll be plenty of updates over the next few days.

good to see the insanity spreading , meet a few of the girls at gealcon , the charm offesive was wonderful great to see so many girl gamers at the con.

You did? Well there were only three of us, so, um, who are you? I'm Mary, the one with the bag shaped like a D6.

You should have kept them. My poor eardrums... :)

I'm the one with the head shaped like a D35...don't forget to remind Anita to send me all the club stats as promised!! The Diddlysquat showbus will definitely be hitting the rocky road to Galway...it will also be hitting the rocky road to Maynooth but how precisely that will be achieved has not yet been worked out in detail...

Anyway, yay for the Galway gang!

Go to Galway through Maynooth, leave half the crew there? :)

'twill be a little like "The Italian Job"...only sort of backwards and without the minis....and not in Italy....and without Michael Caine or Noel Coward...or Benny Hill, but otherwise exactly like "The Italian Job".

We'll kick open the back doors of the bus as we approach the turnoff on the N4, draw short straws for who's going and who's saying. I'll say something like "move very slowly to the back of the bus", then when no-one's looking we'll give a smart push to the Maynooth sub-team.

They'll leap forth onto the tarmac, tumbling neatly to dodge oncoming traffic whilst still clutching firmly to bundles of BMIGS forms, top-secret copies of Spectres pre-release and lovely Diddlysquat T-Shirts. Expertly applying the very height of their ninja skills to avoid landing on a pocket full of D4s (ooo they're sharp) our "insertion team" will sneak up the motorway embankment and infiltrate the Maynoothonians, hiding out in "The Roost" and Supermacs, scavenging for scraps of half eaten chip (no ketchup thanks) surviving on little more than their wits and discarded vinegar sachets.

In a carefully calculated raid on the Maynooth traffic control system they will cause a gridlock from which no potential gamer will be able to escape (in other words, one of them will press the button on the pedestrian crossing outside Bank of Ireland).

More daring than "Mission:impossible", more death defying than "Alien v Predator", more tear jerking than anything with Meryl Streep in it. Miss Maynooth? Not a chance!

    What a team...

    Huhuhuhuhuh, you said "insertion"...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 43,045 ✭✭✭✭Nevyn

I will be going to maynooth , that way i can return home and bemuse the next gamer generation with tales of wonder ( i wonder went ), awe ( at me not loosing all my san points and giggles ( for i am expecting a lot form the uni that voted a rock prez of the SU ).

I may even offer to co ordinate ( ie yell at ) the diddly squat ninjas for the price of a black didlyaquat t shirt :D

and as for the which one was i well i wa the loud one, or the one in the purple hat

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 914 ✭✭✭Specky

    Huhuhuhuhuh, you said "insertion"...

I have also been known to use the word "erection" in a variety of contexts whilst maintaining a completely straight face.

Thaed is hereby appointed "away-team-mammy" for the Maynooth gig....don't know about the "black T Shirt" thing though....(people may confuse us with smelly gamer types...)..

Anyway, folk will be thrilled to hear that official Diddlysquat T Shirts will very soon go on sale via the Diddlysquat website.

Not only will you be able to adorn yourselves with the witty (and eye-catching) quote-bearing singlets so manfully displayed at Gaelcon just a short time ago, we will also be offering you the very special chance to apply a whole variety of custom slogans across your.....chests....(or shoulder blades) whilst still showing off our beloved the Diddly-splat-logo!!

Available in all the most appropriate "gamer-sizes"...er-hum...these are going to rapidly join such classics as "The Fake Tuxedo", "The 'My mum went to Torelomenus and all I got was this lousy T Shirt'" and (who could forget) "The Chez Guavara" in the odourous-armpit hall of fame.

Keep your eyes peeled (not literally though....that's too icky) on the site for lots of hot gear (no, not the sort of stuff you see of Crimewatch....not unless someone breaks into our offices and steals our stuff anyway...).

It's not so much of an assumption as a given... :p

If one of them was threatening to violently kill you for not decaliming the Beatles as the greatest, most visionary band of all time past, present and future, then probably...

Do you guys need any help with anything? Me and a couple of the others are planning our trip up and are curious as to if you guys need some scenarios, or whether you have a charity auction and if we should bring some stuff up for you's?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31,967 ✭✭✭✭Sarky

See the submissions page about that (Click on games first, a sublink should appear below it. The website is getting all stroppy again...)

Volunteers are extremely welcome, and there's a reward system for those who offer to GM a game or five.

There is certainly a charity auction, I think it'll be in the Rosin Dubh pub (Silliness with the college bar means it most likely won't be available on the weekend. :( ) I wouldn't want to pressure any of you, but if you really want to bring something for it, be my guest. :)

I may submit a game, depending on how I'm writing.

I'll bring something upto the charity auction, be it from myself or Warpcon.

Oh and Warpcon heartily endorses this event :D

A quick and rather interesting update: Itzacon minions have secured the country's first official Werewolf: the forsaken game. It's not out in the shops till the Monday after the con, so come and have a looksee if you like RPGs about big fuzzy furry dogmen! :)

    Hi Sarkster
My apologies for being completely out of date on the whole "current affairs" thing, I've been buried under a pile of stuff....large heap of Galway BMIGS forms for one thing, thanks very much :D ...but some of the guys were asking about this whole flesh eating virus thing and I was totally unaware of it.

What's the status? Any effects on the con? Any official statements etc?

We nearly always lose something when we go away to a con but we'd rather it wasn't a limb (or even more) one of the team.

    Head count....

    Where's Tommy?

    Specky

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31,967 ✭✭✭✭Sarky

There is no flesh eating virus. And if there was, it could not defeat us. They will boil in their tanks, and we would cook their stomachs, if viruses had them.

Hope the BMIGS stuff comes in handy. I had to give the address to Anita three or four times because she kept losing it.

Also, I got to sit in on playtesting the "Mysterious system X" game, and my god, but it's an odd one. It's based entirely on D4's, for a start, and will probably include a 16+ cert... Huzzah!
