After hours would get a lot of traffic alright :)

welcome to boards.ie....home to a lot of irish web users :P

    Welcome to Boards.

Yes most people here are Irish and Yes I think scousers should be thick skinned enough to stick around for a little while anyhow.

P.S. Whilst Ireland is usually seen elsewhere as a democracy, please remember that Boards is not necessarily so.

    Cal

Welcome to boards. There's a pretty lively :D soccer forum here .You have to be sponsored by 2 members to get access but that shouldn't be a problem when you get known around the place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,711 ✭✭✭Dr. Dre

Ah scouseland. How I love it so.
I'm over there quite a bit to see Tranmere or just for a weekends booze, I've been over 10 or 11 times in the last year. Alas, I'm unable to get back over until February, whence my regular trips will commence again.
I friggin' love that place, I'm almost a regular in some of the bars :D

    Welcome.

Have you got that smoking ban all over Ireland now
cos we are gonna be the guinea pig city in England and I wanna know if it works or not, Ive got a mate from Dublin and he says you just all go out of the pub to have a smoke but he blows his smoke back in thru the windows :D

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,351 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

It's great for us non-smokers, unless you're the only non-smoker in a group and all your mates go out for a smoke at the same time, leaving you like a lemon babysitting 6 pints

Incidently, do you know if Radio City still allow people to visit their tower? My mate says they used to years ago, but is unsure if they still do.
I might pluck up the courage some weekend to go up :o

not too sure mate, I bet they dont let no-one up there when Pete Price is on air, I went up as Kid and it was a revolving resturant ,

Ill look in to it and get back to you tomorrow, but I cant see them letting Joe Public in there right now TBH

Could be worse, you could have posted this:
http://www.scouser.com/ (nice "Tings T'Du" section there btw)

    Or this:

Haven't been in Liverpool since 1987. Must take a trip some time.

It works and it sucks (for smokers). This seems to be coming whether you like it or not. Next country Portugal - end of the month (if still on schedule). Seems to me the British are less fascist about the whole thing - but they seem to have it in for Scousers if they picked Liverpool as a test-bed.

Heard Auz is planning a ban including smoking on beaches

    Welcome to boards btw.

OMG, if thats the case then the cost of a packet of cigs should come right down, I aint paying Tax on my smoking to be dictated too, where and when I cant smoke , I have enough intelligence not to light up in pizza hut and not blow my smoke onto someones Hawaiin double crust , its gettin ridiculous

    Hello Btw ;)

    OK, ta.

As regards the smoking ban, it sucks ass. I have no problem with it in principle, but the way the government forced it upon us was unacceptable, they wouldn't even entertain the thoughts of designated smoking areas or anything. But we're turning into a nanny state over here anyway so it was to be expected.
On the flip side, where people congregate outside for a smoke, there is a certain camaraderie amongst us smokers, it's turning out to be an advantage in 'chat-up' potential ;)
Once you can ignore the moaners still harping on about the ban  :D

A lot of places in Liverpool already have self-designated smoking areas, which is cool and you're sort of expected not to smoke at the bar or in the toilets, in my experience of the place.

Ok. I concede I was whinging - just got back from holliers where I could drink and smoke in the bar.

Good point about the chat-up - been doing this before without realising the advantage...
