It is working blank, they've just neglected to set up the proxy settings since the new comps were put in there. If you find yourself not being able to get onto outside college internet in ie explorer just go to Tools >> Internet Options >> Connections (tab) >> LAN Settings (button) >> Use automatic configuration script (check box) >> type "http://www.tcd.ie/proxy.cgi"

Im in 161 and there's people doing science in it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,314 ✭✭✭Nietzschean

you used to do 161 if u did either/both 2nd year phy/math as far as i understand it, now you only do it if your doing math in 2nd yr. so stuff like PCAM is gone....least afaik

And the new course is PDE's, partial differential equations iirc

Since this topic is already pointless and far off topic, that spec you have for your workstation is quiet... intimidating, what do you use it for.

you be right ApeX, us physics students dont have to do 161 anymore, 2s5 instead which is a brand new course..Those not doing physics do 161 still though, so there would be geog/biology people doing it..

CS labs - again :) where exactly are the lazer huts? in terms of directions please, not that trinity map :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,579 ✭✭✭Pet

    Hamilton building, again. :D

Uhh..laser huts..ehm, head up towards the Pav, and you'll be walking between the rugby pitch and the cricket pitch. But instead of turning right for the Pav, turn left to go along by the goalposts of the rugby pitch. The laser huts are the prefabs directly behind the goalposts.

You know the botony building (ie with all the plants growing up it) and it's twin the old physics building? Well between them are two prefab-esque "huts". So if you were to stand on the rugby pitch and face them, the laserhuts would be the prefabby thing on the right..

Swipe your student card to get it, open 24hrs..

    sky,

are you encoding video you've recorded with your digital camera (if so what kinda stuff do you film?- as in you make little movies etc.?)or do you encode and decode lots of dvds etc in to divxs.

anyone know why i cant log into my hotmail account from macs? anyone know why it takes ages and sometimes its impossible to log in to boards in the physics lab comps.

    k

In the GMB. The place isn't as quiet as it was last week, I guess people have found out that it actually exists. I'm sure the stairs are still holding a lot of the less fit among us back, though.

In the GMB computer room, sitting beside the window with a wonderful view of those hideous concrete blocks that they call buildings that seem to line the other side of Pearse street. Ah well, I suppose 'tis better than sitting somewhere in UCD and having to look at them in every direction. :D

From the building on Pearse Street with the stone carving "Nuzum Bros" on front. Not sure if it will still be here when you receive this. This is computer science shared with engineering. I'm using a VT220 terminal already old- hat in 1988 :D. My cunning invention only let's me post to the future and watch glitchy movies from the future. From what I've seen and if Moore's law holds up this is appoximately March, 2002 right? :p

Sweet. Bit cold in here though.

Dunno, for some reason my a/c is still open, but a lot of other people's aren't working. Bit odd.

Nice, although I'm sure it's over now (even Led Zeppelin couldn't keep a song going for 6 days), was it the original or BBC Sessions version? I really have to get an iPod or some such so as to listen to my collection of Zeppelin around campus.

On topic, however, I'm in the GMB again.
