Ok say you could afford the insurance/tax/fuel costs on a 5 litre Chevrolet Camaro or something similar (not even limited to classic cars, just day to day drive) I would probably go with the Saturn L300 sedan

    mmmm

    [edit] I want pics too!

Lincoln Town Car (the older model) for when you have to drive six hundred miles but don't want to leave your armchair. I had one of these for three months and loved it, but my god did it love unleaded. And burnouts with the traction control switched off. American cars don't really 'do' corners very well. The Town Car is typical of this, needing written notification of upcoming sharp turns.

Honda NSX - and so cheap too. For when you really have to feel your eyeballs being pushed into your head......

A 1958 Edsel Pacer convertible (my parallel parking wouldn't be up to a Citation). Or a 66 or 67 Mustang but I'm not that much of a boy racer.

edit: Pacer pictures (about 140k each, both of the 2-door hardtop. Actually I might go for the hardtop instead - the convertible came with a rubber floor instead of the hardtop's carpet)

I like loads of American cars. Muscle cars, land yachts, pickups, pre war Cords and Dusenbergs, Tuckers with engines from a helicopter etc. etc.

Off the top of my head, I might go for a Boss Hog style Cadillac Eldorado convertible with a 500 ci engine. Or maybe a mid sixties Lincoln Continental pillarless convertible similar to the one JFK used (minu blood stains and brain matter hopefully)

How about an AMC Pacer? Often regarded as one of the worst cars ever built. Possibly very popular with die-hard Wayne's World fans!

I saw a programme on Discovery about those wagons and I tell ya its no picnic working in/with/around one of them things! Esp as the mines in question are often in incredibly remote spots so if anything nasty happness you might well be DOA. One of the big wories is two colliding in fog and ending up with a few hundred tonnes of rock rolling all over the place!

I wonder how much it costs (new or secondhand)
I can't find any indications (but then again it is such a huge item that it is proabably customised for each client)

If I had to drive an American car it would be one of these:

3.5l 24-valve aluminum V6 - 250bhp. Definitely one of the best looking American production cars.
Otherwise (theoretically unfortunately) I'd wait for the new Audi S8 to come out, fill it with cheap unleaded and just go nuts in it :p

A cop car, similar to the one in the blues brothers, havent a clue what it is.

Most probably a Ford Crown Victoria. Something a bit like this maybe?
    269990_6_full.jpg
Or maybe an older model of this. I think this is an '88 model so newer than those in the Blues Brother's

Well done. You were quick and I see you also found my previous post! Most people think the car is ugly from the outside but once they step inside, their attitude usually changes quickly enough. I only stuck it in coz it has an American look to it (on the outside anyway)
