ok, not a regular poster here, and not a complete gym fanatic either :)

i am 5'7" and am trying to get rid of a belly ive had for about 5 years. now, im fairly active, and im fairly fit (fairly, i wont be running any marathons in record time) but recentlky ive taken to going to the gym to make get myself fitter.

now i orginally took up spin cycling, which is fantastic. if anything will get you pumping, its that. now i have started to vary it a bit by taking a bit of running on a treadmill, and then using a cross trainer. i try to excersise in the 160 to 180 bpm range for 5 minutes and then drop my pulse and then bring it up again. Cardio work is mostly what i do. duh!

however, as good as i feel, and as much as it allows me to runaround a hockeypitch for at least half a game, i still cannot shift my belly.

what in the name of god do i have to do. i have changed my eating habits to eat a lot more fruit and vegatables, and to not eat portions that are too big.

i quite broad, and very well built and it would surprise people that i am 13 stone. i dont look fat, and to be honest, im not, just incredibly solid :)

i just cannot seem to get rid of this belly! i was on lholiday the last 2 weeks and i trained for an hour evey single day, and not a jot, my legs got more muscles, my arms got toned, my bum looks great according to the missus, but short of liposuction, any advice?
    logic, you gotta do something!

    Try 3 billion crunches.

But seriously, can you hold your belly in? If you can, then try exercises to strengthen your midriff, and hold your belly in as much as possible.

Your posture may be wrong. Try the captain's chair exercise. I know this coz I'm in the same situation, and Captain's chair seemed to help (until I got lazy again).

A unit's a half pint of (normal) beer. 20 units a week is the recommended max for a guy 12-15 for a gal.

Captain's Chair is when you dangle from a chinup bar and raise your knees to your chest, as far as i remember.
