I can't remember, I think it was probably The Beatles - Revolver, but its possible it could have been All Saints.

First rock album would have been Ash.

The Best Rock Album In The World... Ever

If that doesn't count, it could have been RHCP - Californication, but first metal album would be Sepultura - Chaos A.D.

I'm not ashamed to admit the first music I remember enjoying was Cher at the tender age of 7. I then moved onto the Cranberries and Oasis at around 9 or 10. The first album I bought was probably Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette.

mine are lovely eighties classics, back when cd was new and exciting and a single (record) meant a 7" single and a single (chips) was less than a pound:

    Michael Jackson - Thriller
    Jean Michel Jarre - Images.

The very first piece of music I bought was Kylie Minogue's I Should Be So Lucky (which I still have and play from time to time, the b-side is an instrumental version!)

thats quite a good first album Sarky... the prodigy were really good in their early days, both the prodigy experience and music for the gilted generation were good albums and far better than the crap they are churning out now...I still listen to both those albums on occassion.... cant be listening to gut slashing brutality death metal all the time!!! :p:D

The first album I ever bought was Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast iirc. Sadly it's on cassette and like most of my old music, doesn't get listening anymore. Christ, I hate tapes!

My first ever album to buy: The Tain - Horslips
an absolute masterpiece,, the best Irsh album of all..and I still listen to it,,the concept of cuchullain and his clash during the cattle raid of colley with Ferdia and all the rest (good ol' celtic legend stuff!),,,was brilliantly brought to life with this album, the musicianship is oustanding and considering it was only 1973!,,their second album after a reasonable debut album,,well it was a special album..the best of rock, trad rock, trad, experimentation and inteligent lyrics ,,it's all here in this album.......classic stuff.

    ciao' amigos.........Baggio...........

    Salve Baggio.
I even went to The First Wexford Living Music Festival, where they played, as well as bands like Fairport Convention and many others.
My first Album was actually two albums: A Joan Baez and the other a kind of greatest hits job, called 'The Kinks' on the Golden Guinea Label. Which was a Pye label selling at 21 shillings (a guinea, for younger readers information). Which was £1/1/- or £1.05.
The Kinks album was probaly their first, and got played a lot more than JB album.
At the time the alternatives were more Burl Ives, Clancy Brothers, Inkspots and lots of stuff I'd decided wasn't worth listening to.
But Revolver was the one after that. Played it to death, at full volume, in order to educate the population of my small town to something other than the appalling Country and Irish schlock.

Alanis Morrisette - Jagged Little Pill.

Didn't buy another one for f*ckin years after that tho, think the next must've been The Beach OST when I was 15 :o

On the bright side, I have actually developed some taste in the intervening years (thank cr@p!)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,618 ✭✭✭Civilian_Target

Now that Pet mentions it, the first album I bought was Jagged Little Pill, not All Saints (thank God for that, at least Alanis Moirsette is a respectable first buy). I bought Jagged Little Pill before going to France, and bought All Saints on the way back home again. I listened to JLP for a full 2 weeks.....
