blink-182 play their first Irish show this December (Thursday 16th) at Dublin's Point Theatre. Tickets are €34.50 and are on-sale from October 1st.

Special guests are unconfirmed, however it may be Death Cab for Cutie and The Kinison (as they are supporting blink-182 elsewhere in Europe; the former I would be very happy to see).

Looking foward to this since they cancelled their January 2002 show.

    Ah b*llocks!

    This is always happening me!

My favourite bands always play during my exams. Semisonic played a gig in Ireland the day before my last exam in the Leaving Cert a couple of years back. Counting Crows played during my exams too last year.

And now Blink 182, who i've always been a big fan of and was set to see at the gig back in 2002 until they cancelled due to Tom DeLonge's back injury, are playing the week of my Christmas exams.

    Such sh*tty luck!! :(

Exams aren't worth missing gigs for. It'll only take about 3 - 4 hours...

It's tempting but i'm all the way down in Sligo.

So trying to get down to Sligo after it if i've an exam at 9 the next morning will be a real pain in the ass! And also for all i know, i'll have an exam the evening on the gig.

PS - Here's a fun fact for all you Blink-182 fans that i just found out recently... did you know that 'I Miss You' is all about the great Tim Burton film 'The Nightmare Before Christmas'? Read these lyrics: (if you've seen the film, you'll realise the connections (such as Jack and Sally are the name of the two main characters)

Hello there, the angel from my nightmare
The shadow in the background of the morgue
The unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley
We can live like Jack and Sally if we want
Where you can always find me
    We'll have Halloween on Christmas
And in the night we'll wish this never ends
    We'll wish this never ends

Well... Sligo. He does have a pretty good argument. I'd hate to have to get from Dublin to Sligo in the morning just to do an exam.

Is that right bout I Miss You being about Nightmare Before Christmas?!
Makes sense I guess, but they do it with such subtlety... Favourite Blink 182 song, no question. (Just broke up wit gf, so I guess it's pretty apt anyway)

Thank God they're finally coming. Had my ticket in '02 but had my hopes crushed :(

I would have liked to see them before they went all serious and nearly broke up, though. I wonder what the set list'll be like?

Yup, Death Cab have cancelled their European tour, they weren't going to be supporting blink in Dublin anyway, unfortunetly.

The Kinison are confirmed as special guests for anyone interested.

The Kinison are ok, i guess. Heard a few songs off their album. Definitely not going to this gig though. I'm not a big Blink 182 fan. Their recent album was ok though.

Sugarcult were just announced as replacements for Death Cab

Have Sugarcult been confirmed as support on Green Day's European tour? It's very unlikely that they would spend so much time in Europe supporting both blink-182 and Green Day, I wouldn't count on it.

From what I've heard of Sugarcult... ugh. Horrible.

Oh I don't actually know. It's just what those hotshots were saying over on the Green Day thread. Perhaps not. Wouldn't mind seeing them once. But don't want to see them at both.

'Tis tomorrow folks; the Christmas season begins (for me, at least). Hopefully they'll play Happy Holidays, You Bastard or I Won't Be Home for Christmas to get me in the festive spirit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,592 ✭✭✭Ro: maaan!

Oh yea... I Won't Be Home For Christmas would be good. I'm sure they'll play something christmasy anyway...

Anyone know if an SLR will be allowed in at The Point? I took in a compact cam for Audioslave and they didn't mind that. Ticketmaster site just says video cameras are not allowed.
