Astro Park in Tallaght

    Hi
I was playing on the new pitches in the astro park last night. While the surface generally is better, more grip and easier on the knees and ankles, (this matters at my age!) I found that it was very uneven. One or two of use fell over, caught by the extra grip and the uneven surface.
I know that there is stil a lot of work still in progress b ut what does any one else who has played there think?

I use to play there before the "upgrade". Do they still have the sand type of pitches ? Moved to some pitches at the Postal Club (near the old mill)- the are the newer type of astro pitches with the fake grass and little black rubber balls. A few of the guys had a bit of trouble getting use to the pitches espically when they are new, once they get weared down a bit its much nicer to play on and espically nice when you legs arent ripped up from any falls.

One side sand, other side new. I think that they are planning to rip up the sand side next. major amount of work going on there at present. They are putting net roofs on all the pitches as well.

Played on both the new surface and old surface last Thursday and I must say that the old surface is more 'consistent'. Maybe it is a case of the new surface 'bedding' in but I personally didn't enjoy it too much.
