Just wondering if these gloves are any good at all, or if there any bad points to em???

They're generally bad. The extra bulk while wearing them takes your forearms out of the workout and doesn't build your grip strength like it would if you did it without gloves.

If however you're just looking to save your hands, you can get neoprene gloves. They're thin so they don't cause the problem above, and they'll stop your hands developing calluses.

This is untrue. Only gloves that incorporate wrist wraps take your forearms out of the workout.
and doesn't build your grip strength like it would if you did it without gloves.

Umm that's also untrue. They'll generally improve grip strength by preventing slippage associated with sweaty hands.
they'll stop your hands developing calluses.

About the only thing you've gotten right about gloves.

Why is it then that most lifters use chalk instead of gloves?

You have stats that say more 'lifters' use chalk?

Personally I use chalk because it feels more natural, I've never liked using gloves but I will wrap up wrists for a 1RM on deads because I'm not training grip I simply want to get my max.

But most fitness gyms have banned chalk as they say it's too messy, and I very rarely see anyone else in my gym ever using chalk.

Powerlifters and strongmen almost always prefer chalk or resin over gloves but it's a totally personal choice.

I wouldnt bother with them if I was you - I used to use them but didnt see much benefit in them. I suppose they're good if you're hands are soft and you dont want to get blisters though.

The wrist straps that you can wrap around your hand are good for lat pull-downs and stuff like that.

It's a matter of choice I suppose. If u feel that they improve your grip and help you lift a little more, then go with it.

I use straps occasionally just to lift a weight that my hands won't grip for me.

Really pisses me off when people give wrong/bad information, cheers logic for setting it straight

Chalk is a better option I find.

Simple way to look at it is, you will never forget your hands, but if you forget your gloves the lack of callouses will tear you to shreds.

By Lifters are you referring to Olympic lifters? If so then you are correct. If however you mean bb'ers then you are incorrect and in fact most of the top bb'ers wear gloves in the gym. Powerlifters tend to use neither.

I do... you can't wear gloves in any lifting federation! I think you have better grip with your hands than gloves, even without chalk. I've got callouses all over my hands though from heavy deadlifts and shrugs so if you're a pretty boy, wear gloves!

Also, most top bodybuilders simply wear gloves because of endorsement contracts, not because of any ergogenic aids.
