Keeping Motivated!

I need to keep motivated. I've tried a million times before to keep going to the gym and to keep healthy but I always end up turning back into my lazy self.

I've decided that I REALLY want to quit drinking and smoking hash for the next few weeks at least until college starts, but my only problem is that I know I'll end up falling into the usual traps again and end up back to square one.

I went to the gym today for the first time in months. 4 and a half minutes on an excercise bike and I felt like I was going to puke and I had to go home. Can anyone give me and help or tips on keeping motivated and keeping off the drugs?

Avoid people you smoke drugs with for 6 months, unless any of them make similar decisions to yourself. Spend time with people who are motivated themselves and find a training partner.
Stop listening to the trippy mellow music you proabably listen to if you smoke dope, and start listening to something aggressive or at least up-beat.
Drink coffee or tea in the morning. Take Siberian Ginseng.
Have cold, or at least cool, showers.
    Don't watch television.
Don't have sex or masturbate more than once a day.
Get internally focussed. Push yourself hard enough that you get high off the endorphins when you train.

Any of these will help. Some are a bit extreme, but they all help. Loads more too probably.

I know I should be avoiding these people but in reality they are my friends and it's VERY hard to do. I have a mate who also wants to stay motivated so at least that should help.

I like the music idea one. To get myself revved up I was listening to some heavy stuff on the walk to the gym..

The other ideas are all gold too, although not watching tv/using the computer is one of the hardest things to give up. It's very har dto keep myself active all day every day. How do you combat this?

oh and would you think that going on creatine would be a quick way to boost my energy levels?

Creatine will improve your muscular endurance and recovery time. it will not make you more motivated, or give you any more "get up and go". Siberian Ginseng *will* give you more "get up and go". Bananas will too come to think of it.

Velvet Antler may or may not increase growth hormone levels and testosterone in humans. It is not a steroid. It's hard to get. Most of the American and Canadian suppliers are likely to be contaminated with CND,a form of BSE, which hasn't been shown to effect humans, but it might. I ordered some from Wandering Winnipeg Ranch, which is in an area that does not have CND, but my order, and my follow-up email, have still been completely ignored a week and a half later.

Increasing testosterone levels will increase your motivation considerably. There are no safe chemicals that have been proven to work, although Velvet Antler might. Andro is not safe. Steroids are not safe.
Compund muscular exercise, particularly squats, will increse natural testosterone production. Pork products contain zinc and magnesium, which are necessary for testosterone production. These minerals are depleted during weight training. Supplementing with ZMA (just a mix of zinc and magnesium) is probably a healthier option, since pork is full of toxins and cholesterol. ZMA supplementation increases the effectiveness of weight training 150% on average for men. It makes you sleep better oo, although that's probably not a problem when you smoke dope.
Eating complex carbohydrates will increase your energy levels too. The less refined a food is, the longer it takes the body to convert into energy. This effectively means it gives you more energy, because faster increases in blood sugar will be negated by the release of insulin by your body.
It is surprisingly hard to stop smoking dope, if you develop a real fondness for it. It takes about 6 months of non-smoking to actually stop wanting it in the same way. If you are in situations where people offer you it, before 6 months have passed, you will want to smoke it.
If you could even get grass, instead of hash, you would find yourself a lot less sluggish. It does not have the same sort of depressant/tranquilising effect.
