It's really all a personal thing.
I made a "super mp3 complilation" of about 40 songs which I absolutely adored at the time and now I hate many of them.
The album would have to evolve as time went on.

    I know what you mean.
i was trying to change the title of the thread but accidently clicked send post!
it is a really personal thing and music taste does change. I mean, I used to like Linkin Park. :o

    hallelujah...rufus wainwright

what he did to that song is a blight on music-kind. this is the most clear illustration of 'one mans meat is another mans poison' i have ever encountered.

check out cohens version if you haven't. or even buckleys. both are a world ahead of that piece of turd.

Yeah but even if we did like crap stuff ages ago, it still affects our tastes today.
For me, quite possibly if I'd never found Linkin Park I would never have been introduced to rock, and god knows what might have happened then.

ahh fair play so, sorry about that :) it is probably my most hated cover of all time. hallelujah is one of the best songs ever recorded and i agree with about 80% of the rest of your choices having a lot of merit...

tis all entirely subjective of course.

heheh yep its one of the good versions anyhoo. and it reminds me of ctyi, as does american pie, save tonight, land down under, etc.
and which dont you agree with by the way?
I'd loved to have had some feeder on it but unfortunately i couldnt. oh well.

well theres a lot of frames on it, and no sign of some of my top artists (pulp, nick cave, tom waits, tori amos). haven't heard much jet stuff and i doubt newer guitar bands like the strokes and franz ferdinand would get a look-in yet - interpol maybe tho.

no major disagreements, they're all decent enough tracks, i just have some i'd prefer more. maybe some phil ochs in the mix too.

i think creating a favourite album would be impossible for me.

it doesnt have a few of my own favourites, but some of it was to remenisce about CTYI! ;)
Like I said, I'd love to have feeder on it. or perhaps the thrills.
