mmmm I have loads of bloody invites but the bloody things don't work when I click on them, its like they are phantom links the hand appears, I click but nothing happens, whats with that?

Same problem here. Do you have a HP PC? I think it is a javascript issue.

wel, there are reasons for it I'm sure.
Firstly, the invite system was a brilliant marketting tool. People were paying top dollar to get invited for a while, and so the buzz around the internet was massive (not that 1gig mail doesnt do that on its own).

Also, I'd say google want to avoid people having the ability to setup loads of gmail accounts like you can do with yahoo or hotmail. Having some kind of limit means there aren't hundreds or thousands of dormant accounts taking up 1 gig a pop worth of storage space.
