Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm just wondering if anyone here has had the same problem. I woke up the other morning felt ok (had a good nights sleep) but when I tried to get out of bed I felt an extreme painful tightness in my chest. So bad that I could not get out of bed and had to ring in sick in work. It seemed to get worse if I rolled over onto my right arm and scared the crap outta me. I know this is not a medical board and I am going to see my doctor about it. Just wondering if it has happened to anyone else.

BTW It happened once before about a year ago but that was after staying up for 24 hours finishing a project for college. I seem to be fine again now which seems strange. I don't know if it was a Panic attack or a heart attack? Could a panic attack be physically painful?

    Any advice appreciated

Panic attacks can cause tightness across the chest and difficulty breathing. Are you especially anxious lately?

Was it accompanied by any sharp shooting pains?

Best course of action is simply to see the Doctor it could be any number of maladies.

As I said I am going to see my doctor about this. And as far as sharp shooting pains not really more of an overall tightness over my chest that turned into agonising pain if I tried to move suddenly or get out of bed. Very frustrating powerless horrible feeling. It took me an hour to get over it. The strange thing is I have been quite relaxed recently and had a good nights sleep the night before so can't really explain a panic attack.

I'll just have to see what my Doctor has to say. I'll more than likely get the no caffeine, no smoking and no alcohol yarn. Not that I go particularly overboard on any of them.

My friend experienced the same thing. It was stress in his case. Panic attacks as already said.

LostMarbles it happened to be too. My first experience of it was in transition year I ws going to sleep and all of a sudden there was a desperate pain on the right hand side of my chest. I had to sit up for a while to get rid of it, its not a nice feeling at all.
I hate when this happens also, you're half a sleep and then wake up with an awful shock/jump. Its a sensation of going down steps and then missing one, its awful.
