What makes a real fan? somebody who seen the first ever episode the first day it was on TV? or somebody who watches a few episode's and really likes it? Family is rarely on TV, so anyone who likes it will have to buy the DVD's? It was a bit sneaky bringing out the boxset with the extra disc though, (I bribed a guy working in a shop to sell me the extra disc), I but i dont understand why you are annoyed with "these new "fans"". Do you want anybody who didnt see it first time round to be banned from being entertained by one of the best ever Cartoons? The more fans the better i Say?

NO NO NO sorry i know the post came across a bit strong prob my annoyance since fox done that box set. it is like mtv fans for bands a fan who loves all there mtv songs but cant name one off a album, this is annoying. definintion of a fan is fanatic somewho is absolutely fanactical about family guy i.e me, i check family guy sites daily i check the voices site alex borsteins aint that bad for family guy updates, but someone who has been watching family guy for 2 months sure he cant wait for it to be on tv but i doubt he is waiting with anticipation like i am. i watch the dvds daily nearly it is easily the best adult cartoon ever

I agree with Brock, releasin the dvd box set with that bonus disc with all the extras is like punishin the real fans who've been there from the start and rewardin the Johnny come latelys!

You're never gonna catch me! You're wastin your time! Forget about it! Go do somethin else! See y'all next year!

Afaik Its Mila Kunis who does the voice of Meg, she's also in That 70's Show.

I never knew until I saw this that Joe's voice is done by the guy who played Puddy in Seinfeld.

I could never believe Seth Green did Kris' voice. Even after seeing it it looks weird, that voice coming from his mouth.

Yup, I know how you feel. What reward for those of us - and I'm sure you and Brock are among our numbers - who were preodering the DVDs on their first release? What of those of us who watched the show from its first airing here and went around telling everyone how great it was, spreading the word? Where's our reward!!!

commantaries which is main selling point to me,delted scenes most of which i found after days searching on net all stuff like that. See rabbit i aint the only bitter person here no offence but there is a big difference in a real family guy fan and a dvd johnny come lately as greased up deaf guy said.

Ah this is the usual problem that occurs with music. I know everyone has the right to enjoy stuff equally etc. but it's totally undeniable that seeing your favourite underground/new group (or program) suddenly get flogged all over radio and tv is painful. Next thing you know you go off the stuff you liked due to overexposure! I'm sure you all know what I mean.

what exactly are you looking for? Some kind of finders fee for happening to see family when it started?

If it wasnt for all the 'new' fans, you wouldnt be getting your 4th season!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

The thing about the extra DVD is that its content was only made until after the first two DVD sets were released (Family Guy DVDs were released in Europe before the United States). When the US got their turn a year or so later, their version obviously had a little more care taken into, thus Europe missed out (The Region 1 sets feature all the extras that are on the extra disc).

I still think Fox should provide a way to get this disc cheaply. Send them proof of purchase for all three sets and you get the disc for free, or buy it straight from their site for €10.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,305 ✭✭✭The Clown Man

Haha! Wait no.. your the real fan?! You like it best yea? The rest of us can't possibly really like it because we missed the first episode and therefore we are not real fans... We don't get to join the club..

I bought the DVD box set with all the extras only a few months ago. First time ever seeing it. Why? because I don't watch much TV. And I'm in bed at 1:30am or whenever TV3 used to show it because I have a job. But I don't really like it and don't deserve to call myself a fan. Cause I'll never be a real fan cause I missed it all when it was on TV. Membership to Family Guy fan club: Refused.

    Yea.

As for the whole fan thing, who cares. I prefere to tell my friends about it or anyone who doesn't know so they know what the hell i'm talking about when taking the piss. Yea over use of catch phrases can become tiresome as has happened with other tv stuff, but its always a challenge to get that laugh off with out sounding like a tit....which happens a lot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,305 ✭✭✭The Clown Man

Exactly my point. Who gives a toss who's a "fan" - everyone who sees a few episodes is instantly a Family Guy lover. Hell, I've even shown episodes to birds who have never seen it before and forever after they are asking to see another one! It's incredibly universal.

Hey Mila. Come back here. Where do you think you are going with all that makeup?

You all are completely wrong u should learn to read the god damn posts not one of the people here who talked bout bein fans from the start once mentioned any clubs or any crap along those lines we only stated our annoyance at fox for what they did on the dvds we also never said people shouldnt watch family guy i love the more people enjoyin it as i get to talk to more people about it.Yes family guy is long running but it is also pretty old although it is coming popular now.
the clown man is just trying to start a flame war saying all others dont have jobs because we seen it on tv when it was new this is crap like it was stated it was on sky first and at half 5 on sundays, jesus hope u didnt miss it because ur job sent u to bed. we all know that there is a difference it happens with everything i have noticed a large amount of arsenal fans nowadays,u2 fans were everywhere around the time of slane people jump on these bandwagons at the height of there popularity, so why when u do it get in a argument over someone who was there from the start
Clown man read bri post above can u say it aint true
Bri,ioxy, greased up deaf, dappergent all know what i am talking bout

    ???

who cares when anyone started enjoying the program, do you think the producers of the show care about when you discovered the show. Its not important, but it is because of late comers and dvd buyers that the new season is coming out so just enjoy the new season and talkin about it for years to come, lets start talkin quotes in this thread, for example...

Peter: "ya know I feel kinda bad you guys, i promised my wife i wouldn't drink.."

Quagmire: "ah don't feel bad peter"

Peter: "jeez i never thought of it like that"

Sorry dont know where the sentences start and end there.

I just detest that attitude of yours. I totally love family guy. I jumped on the bandwagon. But thing is I won't be getting off. I hardly ever watch TV except for movies and family guy and Sport (and sometimes simpons). I just found faimly guy late but still you hold my type as unworthy of your coveted fanship. Not that I give a toss about your fanship but it's your attitude that annoys me.

And as for the music. Just last year I started listening to The Stone Roses. I always thought they were quite good and I had heard some of their albums before but only this year I have started to really like them. My taste in music has probably changed or something but it's only now that I have come to really appreciate them. I'm never going to see one of their concerts. They are never going to release new songs. I will never be able to follow them round (not that I would anyway.) The music stays the same - it's always good - but because I didn't particularly appreciate that style of music when they were around does that mean I do not enjoy it as much as others? Or am I a lower class fan than someone who liked them when they were touring round?

This idea of fan classification is just laughable. You don't get a medal for seeing them first. You might assume some bragging rights down in the pub for telling the rest of them about it. But that's about it. You do not assume ownership rights over the content. The FG episodes and the Stone Roses music stays the same for anyone to enjoy it.

Your wanting to withhold the series from the rest of the world and subsequent bitterness after the rest of the world has enjoyed it is an arrogance that just irritates me.

I only discovered Family Guy a few month's ago and I have watched every episode 3 or 4 times.I consider myself a fan of the show and will be buying the new boxset(whenever it comes out).

To the people who watched the show from the start:I guess there were not enough of you to keep the rating's up if there were it would of continued!

I resent the comment that I am not a fan of the show because I did not see it from the start.I also never saw Star Trek,Stargate,Twilight zone,CSI etc from the start, does this make me a lesser fan? I think not!

To all of you original fan's(you know who you are) who where there from the start I would suggest climbing into your fanboy boxes and praying for enough new fan's to come along and rescue your show!

    Global.

clown boy u have me all wrong i am not arogent i lend my dvds to peeps so they can watch and enjoy the show, the only thing me and a few others are bitter about is the new boxset which was released this serously pissed me off as we all stated in previous posts, we were outdone by fox which was extremely annoyin and yes it is true that with all the newer fans coming that the 4th season got the green light that is understandable. but to come in and say i am demanding they withhold series to new people, say i want clubs this is never mentioned in any posts beforehand all we older (not better) guy fans are is annoyed at the newer fans reaping rewards.
    as for quotes
Lois: Peter stop it ur scaring me!

    Oh ffs
If you like that show then you can call yourself a fan or whatever, you can buy the dvd's and do what you want with them.
If you've been watching the show from the beginning you can do the excact same thing
    Plain and simple!
Now can some mod lock this thread if this stupid argument continues?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 390 ✭✭Brock

caball see peeps who watched the show from the begining bout the dvds one by one as they were released, then when fox noticed the sales the pump out anothere better dvd after people had already shelled out bout 130 euro for them as the were like 45 euro or somethin when the were first released now i do not want this thread locked i agree with earlier and bring on the quotes i just want to get it staight that is what people who watched from the start are bitter about
p.s anybody in south dublin would like to give like to give me a lend of the new box set i would only have it a day or two and you would get it back as u gave it to me.

i've been a "fan" since the beginning, and i bought the vanilla DVDs as they were released. i understand why people are pissed off at missing the extra disc, but FFS this is nothing new. it's been happening with our favourite movies for years.
whats all this petty bitter jealousy of new fans who were lucky enough to discover family guy in time to get the special edition? some of you seem genuinely bitter because you're no longer members of the "secret underground cult of Family Guy" anymore. get over it bitches before i slap ya.
let's all just vow to illegally aquire the extra disc as a **** you to Fox.
redirect your anger at the people really responsible for our lack of extras, not other fans.
i've created a lot of FG fans over the years and will continue to do so, as i know most of you will.

one of my faveourite quotes:(brian and stewie are about to take off in a small plane, when brian steers between two cows, knocking the wings off)
Stewie: boy, will your face be red when they find the black box on this one.
(from season two ep: Road to Rhode Island)

I bought all 3 series as they came out on DVD. It is a pain in the ass that fox released the extra features afterwards, but *meh* I'll just "borrow" it off a friend who has it.

I hear the movie was what peeps thought was bein planned when it was actually the 4th season the only fear i have for this new season is the show may be a lot less controversial now.
