If you want to buld up a bit.

    1. Lift weights 3 times a week
    2. Train all major muscle groups (legs, back, chest, shoulders, arms, calves)
    3. Eat well, lots of protein (fish, chicken, eggs, pork, steak) very important!
    4. How hard to push yourself: as hard as you can without injuring yourself.
    5. Don't miss training, and never, ever quit ;)

Most gyms will do you up a program when you join. Just make sure you make it clear what you want to achieve (ie bulking up)

This is true - but there are many other sources of protein.
Eggs, cheeze, beans and my personal favourite Quorn (upto 97% protein!)

    tribble

/edit - Quorn is a mushroom extract, like TVP but much tastier.

Yeah definitely, but remember to use correct form. By that I mean if you are doing your biceps make sure that you are only bending at your elbow. I can't count the amount of times I've seen people use extremely bad form when doing an exercise as simple as a bicep curl, bending forward then swinging their head backwards to give themselves leverage to lift a weight that is obviously way too heavy!
