That information probably falls within the bounds of the 'No warez or naughtiness' policy of the boards, I'd suggest you edit your post and use google.

The best place to get chips IMHO is www.baldbouncer.co.uk

El_MUERkO, you a mod or something? How does asking a question about an xbox chip fall "within the bounds of the 'No warez or naughtiness' policy of the boards"? Chips such as the Xecuter come with a legal Cromwell or similar BIOS when you buy them. NO warez or copyrighted code involved.

Keep your cluelessness to yourself.

    Keep your cluelessness to yourself.

the owners/operators of boards have specifically requested that people don't discuss/sell some items on these boards despite them being legal.

Mod chips and pornography are 2 that I can think of off the top of my head.

I personally support the use of mod chips on hardware that I own, and have installed linux on xboxs for use as servers/media players. However seeing as they provide this nice service for us and pay for the bandwidth and all it only seems fair to respect the few restrictions they place on us.

I wasn't going to bother to point this out to the original poster, but chipzilla's rudeness and ironic use of the term "cluelessness" motivated me :)

Really? If that's the case, how come there's a sticky in the Games forum full of helpful advice on chipping and modding?

oh good, they've changed their policy on mod chips. I always felt discussion about them should have been allowed. However I still think you could have been more polite in your response. El Muerko was polite in his.

i bought my modchip from the same place. i really recommended getting a premodded one from them or else www.mrmodchips.com. both are official retailers of executer chips.

    Any other suggestions?

It's the job of the mod to remind posters of the rules, not the members. I'm sure if whoever mods this section thought the original question was likely to lead to illegal behaviour he would have deleted the thread.

powerhousedan's been sorted out with a chip source anyway, so it looks like the discussion is over.

How do ya go about puttin on divx files and backup games onto it via cable or cd?does it just use a bog standard Hard drive?

Have a modded xbox myself, and there's no comparison.

If you have an xbox, get it chipped, it's worth it even if only so you don't have to enter the date and time everytime you unplug it ;)

would only get one if it had an executer chip or exenium. it takes any ide hardrive although it is recommended to get one that does not produce much heat (that is why some people suggest a 5400rpm drive although that is not neccesary). you can ftp to the xbox with evox or xbmp or xbmc to transfer stuff. samsung drives can read cdr, cdrw, dvd-r, dvd-rw but only dvd+r with a dvd writer that supports bitsetting and not dvd+rw. philips does not like cd-r but takes all expensive dvd media and cdrw. if your drive will read one of these disc you transfer via discs via dvd2xbox or if you want to watch a xvid or divx you can you use xbmc or xbmp directly.
