Greenday ~ Time of your life......

Of course. It has to be there. Extremely depressing last nite when it was played at the singalong though.

    yes. definitely.

back to aoibheann's reply about teen spirit- i agree about the overrating etc. but it still is one of the songs they played at EVERY SINGLE disco, so I think that it shud b on the soundtrack.

    Save tonight definately,

also vitamin C - Graduation song.
I know we didn't graduate or anything but that song really makes me think of CTYI....

I'm not a huge fan of teen spirit either, but everyone has memories to that song, and its the kind of song that comes on and you roll your eyes but some perverse part of you enjoys it.
i agree with most of the stuff written here - but everything's so subjective that adding my own would be pointless. cause i sing all the time. so you wouldn't understand my song choices unless you were....say...conjoined at my hip. *cough*liz*coughcough*
anyhoo. i definitely agree with leaving on a jet plane - especially last year, rory played it in the quad and we were all in a teary heap - twas quite funny actually, no one knew who was next to them, there were multiple questions like "who's at the center of this thing?" heh. good times.
oh, and just to be picky - Halleluljah was written by Leonard Cohen. I like Rufus' version alright but imo Buckley's is deliciously euphoric.
well, anyway, yay fun songs that bring back odd memories....and stuff.

putting in my session one spoke - are you gonna be my girl, 500 miles, funky town, team sodomy, bleeder, the ____ song and asshole.

and the every year songs gotta be street spirit, build me up buttercup and american pie

Guess you're right. Its just thats the reason I think it shouldnt be on the soundtrack. its on every soundtrack.

    What about the Dermo song?

"There was a street that had a tramp and Dermo was his name-o
    D-E-R-M-O, D-E-R-M-O, D-E-R-M-O and Dermo is a hobo"

well obviously, the Dermo song is on the soundtrack. it has to be. otherwise there should be a protest.

Yeah, that waws hilarious. It was so bad it left Ordnaith in shock. Her hand looked like it was glued to her mouth!!! :D

What about the Ordhanait song, for those "lucky" enough to hear it!?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 748 ✭✭✭Zounds

    there's an ordnade song?

Blink 182 - Rock Show... or maybe that's just a me and Dermo thing. Though maybe Neil remembers me monomoshing* around his room to it the day we went to Grafton St. during session 1, 2001.

*Monomoshing: the act of moshing by oneself and looking like more of a twat than you usually do.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 168 ✭✭Peterfing

Okay I didn't really think about it last time and also my songs we all from Session 1 last year.
I think Jet- Are You Gonna Be My Girl will remind me of CTYI coz we listened to it in our room a few times,
Take Me Out I will always associate with the Talent Show.
Leaving on a Jet Plane, Save Tonight, that Greenday song and Niall and Dermo's 'Everyone' song will always depress the crap outta me. Oh and of course Hallelujah will remind me of both my years at CTYI.

And Aoife I think you'd be missing out if you didn't put the Loveshack and all those othe rgreat songs we hear in class on your soundtrack.. he he he.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,383 ✭✭✭Aoibheann

even thinking about most of the songs is depressing. They'll always remind me of Thursday night at the quad.
But still, its better to have even those sort of memories than none at all. And there were way more good times than bad.

    Session 2. Legal Studies.
You were in the talent show. It was great. And you did really well in the name game. But Claire in my RA group beat you.
And yes, it is Aoibheann as the name would suggest.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 168 ✭✭Peterfing

You're the only Aoibheann at ctyi this year right? Glasses and short brown hair. Just making sure. Stupid Claire... If I'd have one more minute I could've named another thirty people. Oh well...

    Yes. thats right.
and the first guy in the name game(someone Joyce i think?) got loads of time. Thats why they changed the rules afterwards to hurry things up. All the rest of you got 3 mins. He was the worst anyway.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,880 ✭✭✭Raphael

No, Guy was worse. Though he made up names for the first minute.....

oh yeah, Guy got 48 and Joycey got 49.

  • Yes. thats right.

Joycey wasn't the worst he was just the slowest. He got extra time cause he was from Cork and the blood doesn't flow all the way to his brain. He got 4 more than Guy and was real proud of that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,691 ✭✭✭david

Guy just looked around like a lost sheep for the first minute. Then he made peoples names up. Matthew B was Prometheus and I think Martin was Fungus. Martin didn't notice that Guy said his name wrong so he stood up anyway!......

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 59 ✭✭Sunstorm

Have to say, Yann's performance for our RA group was a bit dissapointing. He wouldn't have been my first choice for the job, but then again he was the only one of us to stand up....

What was the Ornaith song? I dunno if anyone said time of your life but that is a definite CTYI song

does anyone have the lyrics to "Conor the Paedophile" ? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,691 ✭✭✭david

    Nope... email conor

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 37 Jarge!!!

What do you mean 'email conor'!?! I'll have you know that two of us wrote that song together. All I want is a little respect, you know? Anyway, the lyrics:

    Chorus:
With a bag of sweets and a cheesy smile
    It's conor the pae-ee-eedophile

First he'll lure you to his car
    With a tasty chocolate bar
and then he'll make you go too far
When he makes you smoke his mea-ea-eat cigar

    Chorus

He likes you in leather or lace
He'll make you touch his special place
And then he'll rub it in your face
    And vanish withou-ou-out a trace

    Chorus

    Bridge:
    Abused 'til he was 21
At least the priest was having fun
He made him suck his toothpaste gun
And now the priest is on the ru-u-un
    <spoken> and that's not all he's on

    Chorus

Well Conor is still running free
They say he's living in a tree
The last time that he spoke to me
He swore that she was o-o-only 3.

    Chorus

Well, those are the lyrics, but I'm afraid you'll need to contact Conor for the chords. Sorry to anyone I offended, either when it was sung on the last day or now.
