    kill it!

Sorry not alone is it a load of tripe (it is....don't deny it)but everywhere you turn half the bloody stations are showing the exact same guy kicking the exact same inflated round thing!

All the tv Schedules are mucked up because of it.
I mean they took Top Gear off the air for three weeks just 2 fit it in...TOP GEAR !

pure and utter crap for anyone not interested in watching football.

and I know people are going to use the "but it wouldn't be on so much if people weren't interested" (screw face up while saying where appropriate) defence but lets face it more things on the earth than football!

oh yeah and i am a bloke!

It happens for 3 - 4 weeks once every 4 years. Relax. Watch something else or go outside.
oh yeah and i am a bloke!

    You're not, you know.

thats 3-4 weeks 2 much IMO!

also 4 weeks is 28days (really) which means that at least 28 times I'll be subjected to this....at least you can change breaking ball or that other crap (the premiership) when its on but here you've nowhere to turn cos its shown all over the place!

    I'm with you dagger.
    And i'm a guy too.

    Down with soccer!

Maybe you could take up knitting, or possibly embroidery.

....rather than watching sweaty guys running around in shorts....cos thats really manly!

    HEH!

    Daggeredge, are you gay?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,655 ✭✭✭Ph3n0m

hence why Euro 2004 is a good way to catch up on reading, cinema trips and watching classic old DVDs :) *

    * thats why I watched Young Guns I and II last night

    I was being sarcastic!!!

    I was told :
Maybe you could take up knitting, or possibly embroidery.

to which i replied and said
rather than watching sweaty guys running around in shorts....cos thats really manly!

cos football = sweaty guys running around in shorts

I really can't help you after that Ardent

Who knows maybe I'll soon make for Dummies editions of my posts

so all you need to know in summary is
    Not Gay,
    Being Sarcastic!

    Dagger,
    You see
sweaty guys running around in shorts
The rest of us see a skillful game with 22 players?

I think its very simple, get a DVD, Video on or listen to Radio?

you are not forced to watch Football so dont do it!:p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 228 ✭✭daggeredge

    oh but I am!
IMO i should be able to browse most of my channels at my discretion and not see the same thing repeated over and over ....I shouldn't have to resort to my own private stash of DVDs, defeats the purpose of paying a tv licence (which i might add I still have to pay even if I'm not watching terrestrial TV)

Except I am because my flatmate is watching it on the TV! So yes I *have* to watch it.
And what it's 3-4 weeks, 4 times a year is it? Oh right so I must imagine all the other similiar sporting events then right? Down with football! Down down down! And I'm a bloke too who dislikes football.

I may be wrong but the Euro 2004 is on Network2 TV3, this leaves a rake of channels to watch with no soccer, If you have Sky then eurosportGB may have a match and the BBC also carries matches but I think only the England games going forward[...could be wrong on the beeb point?]

point being there is plenty to watch on other channels other than watching programes you have no interest in?

You mean like the soaps? (I got SKY to avoid them!)Thing is Euro 2004 is a big draw for TV audiences, if you don't like it switch to something else.

The major international soccer tourneys take place every two years for about a month that's not a lot, pick up your toys and put them back in the pram.

So I can watch the quality programming of RTE1 and the annoying repeats of Sky one and lets not mention the quality ringtone ads of all the music channels....?

    gr8 idea!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,080 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

Happens once every 4 years , Its only on in the evenings now. If your that addicted to television that you cant do somthing else for the 90 minutes - 2 hours that its no then you have a problem.

    stop ****ing whining .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,352 ✭✭✭Ardent

My apologies Daggeredge. :p Well, you can count yourself lucky - no arguments with moany girlfriends about watching soccer.

    Women...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,705 ✭✭✭BrookieD

So you do not have the Discovery channels? History, Biography? Movies? Porn[ just a thought although it is on late:p ] there must be a 150 channels at leats on sky package, you must be joiking if you can not find anything for 2 hours each night to watch in stead of Euro2004, what would you normaly watch?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 228 ✭✭daggeredge

Discovery....true cos sea anemones are interestin I spose!

LOL only messing with ya, I love football myself, greatest game on the planet. but a lot of people do not like it which is fair enough.

as of this weekend the games break up and there will be less and less on until the final so it wont be so bad.

    :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 228 ✭✭daggeredge

    I spose thats some consolation....
At least you didn't use the " but football is Xcellent! whatcha mean? " defence! BrookieD:)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 228 ✭✭daggeredge

wont replace Top Gear episodes though....

Yeah but you're gay so you have an excuse.:)

Though you probably still have to put up with dumb questions like "Are ya gay or wha" when you mention you don't like watching the sweaty boys with their bouncing pigskin.

I see opposite the Portugal-England game tonight, RTE1 are showing House Hunters while TV3 are showing some movie with Red Nose Gere. Then TV3 are following Mr Nose with Sex and the city, while RTE are following the footie with the pretty awful Striptease[1], which should be grand for the men with wives hiding themselves in the kitchen from that football game thing. I smell stereotype.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is on TG4 at 9:05 if you're laughter inclined.

At least the people publicising Showgirls realised they had a turkey on their hands, this one attempted a plot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,705 ✭✭✭BrookieD

LOL nah thats a poor defence, sure I get hacked off when the Rugby is on? whats the point in that game??? bunch of mucky men running around after an egg??:confused::confused:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 228 ✭✭daggeredge

you cud use the "they only want to grab on to each other" argument , its perfect!:D

How many times of the year do you go through the channels to see Friends, Simpsons, Coronation Street, Big Brother and other shows (Cribs and whatever else) on ?

Then to top it all off they are repeats. At least this stuff is live and for the most part entertaining to the majority of people, the tv ratings are truth to that.

then again he might hit you around the head with a wet fish?:p

you non footy loving freaks sound like a bunch of whining high maintenance bitches. If you don't like footy, DON'T watch it. If you think there is nothing more to life then TV then you have a serious problem. Either way, the rest of us really couldn't give a rats arse whether you get to watch your soaps or Dawsons Creek or Sex in the City or whatever else it is you girls wanna watch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

Dude, take a chill pill? No need to call anyone bitches...

I couldn't be less interested in the footie so I just watch other channels or DVDs instead. Ixoy, share out TV time with your flatmate if you can. He gets some time you get some time. Equal sharing :)
Either that or let him hog the TV but clean the toilets aswell ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,705 ✭✭✭BrookieD

I agree with koneko, LFCFan dont be so hard man, not evryone like footy:confused:

I dispair most of us only watch a decent ammount of live footie when its International tornaments if we were to
complain about soaps/DIY/House hunting/etc...we'd have a much stronger case.
