    hey
a few Questions, regarding the gig.

1)Can you buy tickets at the door ?
    2)When do the doors(gates?) open ?
3)When to Queue to be able to get in to the mosh pit area?
4)Is the moshpit area decent or is it full of idiots that form a circular mosh and kill the fun ? Is it crap outside the mosh pit area ?

just as a side note, i`m not actually going to see mettalica , Lostprophets, wahey !

    Thanks,

Yeah I heard some of Prophets earlier stuff and saw them at Ozzfest...felt the need to gag.
Queuing will begin VERY early- me and me g/f were there last year at 9 and there was already a massive queue...luckily still got into the mosh pit tho! And the mosh pit last year was massive, so I'd say it'll be the same this year.
And there's practically always people selling tickets outside the gig, but be prepared to pay a higher price! Give us a minute and I can tell ya the times...

ok thanks the_obsolete, gates open at 3 ?
and show starts at 6, wtf happens in the 3 hours in b/w ?

and i ment to tickets get sold at the box office or something ? not black market...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,199 ✭✭✭krattapopov

nothing much happens in those 3 hours: you can drink if you are that way inclined

also when a roadie comes on stage groups of the crowd will all cheer for him woooo woooo then proceed to throw stuff

Plus there's a curfew cos the gig is in a residential area so it'll be over at around 10.00.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

ok this is going to suck MAJOR, i dont even like mettalica.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Then why don't you give someone who likes Metallica a chance to get into the pit instead of complaining?

    *Impression of a Metallica fan*

"Duude, Metallica ar legends man. Hammet is god. I'm a bigger 'tallica fan than you dude. Yeah I am. I have this 'tallica t-shirt I got in 1987 and it's older than your 'tallica shirt man. Hammet is like totally a guitar god dude. I grew my hair just like his man. 'TALLICA. 'TALLICA. Guitar solo. Mosh pit man yeah. I AM TRUE METAL. DEATH TO FALSE METAL"

    They're a competitive bunch aren't they..

    sterotyping is bad

also metallica are headlining it why would anyone who dosnt like them buy tickets?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

sorry, i dont have a ticket, i `m buying it off a friend, serious doubts of going but i might have to go since i said i would buy it off him last week.
    Hey, nice come back
i`m not here to arguee, all i wanted to know what the scene was like, no need for your smart comments.

to see the support acts, which are put there for a reason, for people to come and see.

Exactly my point. There are a lot of Metallica fans going who would love to be in the pit. Boyo here wants a pit pass and then leave before Metallica even start, denying a fan of a place. That's what's pissing me off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

Oh God thats the biggest load off bull****, i have EVER heard in my entire life., Tough **** if i get into the pit and you MR HARDCORE fan doesnt, i`m paying 60 to see a ****ing band, i have more of a right to be in a pit than anyone else in that gig,

"HHAHAHAH u stupid fan, watch me get into the pit and id like to see u cry outside the pit. cause Pit is only for mettalica fans and i am no fan, lololololol!!!!!!!!111one.
    i`m cool, wicked cool.
    "

    idiot.

thats your OPINION, lostprophets + slipknot = filler.
    Yes, your opinion.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

But they are filler. They fill the day until the main act is on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

doesnt mean u can disregard them and not enjoy them.
Some people go to see support acts !!!!!!!!!!!!!! beacuse they are an ACT !!

Yes it does. If you don't like a band, you make room for people who want to see them. Simple.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

Ok, you make a VERY strong argument, i bow down and resign down from my special place in the moshpit, enjoy that 1 extra place, may metallica always be with you, even in the darkest hour, you smart, smart man.

what age are you, btw ?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

It wasn't supposed to be an argument. It was a statement.

And what the **** has my age got to do with anything?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

alot, you have a mentality of a 12 year old.

    poo poo ?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

That's nice. I'm glad you think that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 454 ✭✭CrazyTalk

    awww u kids lol
anyway, im going for free(i know ppl on the inside) and id rather go home after slipknot seeing as i have little intention of moshing to metallica, a band i am sick to death of, but my friends will most likely want to stay

I will be heading to the show myself, & last years "fillers" as some of you like to call support acts, weren't bad - ok, well The Darkness kicked ass, but Linkin Park were WOEFUL. The crowd really harassed the sh*t outta them & gave them an uber hard time......

LostProphets live aer appauling..... not looking forward to that at all now this year, & to be honest I'm not a slipknot fan - their stuff is kinda crap, & while I'm at it - the newer Metallica stuff is really quite poo too - I just like seeing them perform the older stuff live.......

Wonder if the fact this will be the 6th time I'll have seen them live will be the nail in the coffin for my days of going to watch them live......

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,983 ✭✭✭✭tuxy

so how much stuff off the new album do u think metallica will play? im guessing 2 better not be more than that

Placebo just give 'tallica a chance if nothing else if you do go. I've seen a lot of people converted in the past year or so of college, most of these people wouldn't like metal at all...sure one of them listened pretty much only rap and hiphop until me and me mats came along, and he ws converted to a Metallica fan.
Also I agree with you that support acts are still acts, a lot of people I met who went to the chilis went to see the hothouse flowers or the pixies, but not so much the chilis. Sure when U2 were doing their elevation tour I left the gig before they even came on! (I can't stand 'em)

I'll probably end up meeting you in there Ruthie. I have an insanely idiotic plan of action for thursday/friday and how to acquire a pit-pass.

it involves extrordinarily high levels of alcohol ......

Even it involves high levels of alcohol, do not, I repeat, do not wear a dress - no matter how good you think you look in it :)

Meh... I'm not going up until around 3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,148 ✭✭✭Ronan|Raven

Same as that, was gona get the early train to dublin and have from 11am till the time the gig starts drinking but that proved to not be the wisest of ideas the last time :) ]

CBA going up earlier for the pit pass as well. Might encourage someone to hand theres over via the art of Jedi.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

I'm planning on heading into town for about half eleven and drinking til whenever we get to the RDS at about 4 or 5.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,618 ✭✭✭Civilian_Target

So what time do the Lost Prophets finish then? I'm not too keen on seeing them, so I'll arrive after that. I don't care if I miss Slipknot.

My intention is then to get some lively flailing done to the sound of old metallica stuff. I very much hope that setlit that was posted is wrong, because it's missing Sanitarium, For Whom the Bell Tolls and Leper Messiah.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

The setlist from last nights gig was missing Bells and Harvester.

Slipknot are on at 18.50, metallica at 20.10.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,655 ✭✭✭Ph3n0m

    Setlist from download festival was:

    Battery
    The Four Horsemen
    For Whom The Bell Tolls
    Creeping Death
    Seek And Destroy
    Fade To Black
    Wherever I May Roam
    Last Caress
    Sad But True
    Nothing Else Matters
    Enter Sandman
