Stiras

Could someone please tell me every second thread on boards mentions Stiras in one way or another?
There's about a hundred people who have Stira in their sig, and one loser has a Stira URL.

Is this some kind of youngster humour that I'm not getting? What's so funny about a very clever and convenient way of accessing your attic?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,258 ✭✭✭✭Rabies

    Quick search
Superman has it in his sig. He started a thread about Stira a while ago. Got locked. Link goes no where.

ha ha somebody finally noticed!! my old username was stira.
the stira craze started around two years ago, where me and my friend ferdi couldnt stop saying stiiirraaa!!! attack that attic with a STIRA!!! It caught on and soon more people started saying it.
The stira is a folding attic stairs, but is also slang for attractive young lady.
the stira craze died down a bit, and was rendered almost obsolete by " SPOIRT" around last year, the newest craze. which is slang for many things, mainly paedophile priests and soft drugs, but also the persuit of attractive young ladies.
however "Stira recently rebounded and is going from strength to strength. When asking a friend if the girl he had sex with was attractive, one asks " is she stira"?
or, "how was the stira on saturday night?" would mean" how was the talent on saturday night?"
At the moment a road trip to the stira factory in galway is being organised, and any boards members with an interest in incessantly repeating the words " stira" and "spoirt" at high volume is more than welcome to attend.

Considering most people only access their attic on occasion, I'm not convinced that the actual outlay for buying a Stira is justified.

You also have to factor in the cost of labour in getting the thing installed, not to mentioned the storage space in the attic you're going to lose from the Stira being up there.

Also, if you've anything under the attic entrance or something jutting out of wall blocking the Stira when you pull it out, it becomes much much less convenient.

A plain old ladder is a better choice in my opinion.

I disagree. The Stira has a unigue degree of quality, style and luxury. It can also be a source of hours of fun of standing by the attic with youre mates, havin a few tins, practicing the different types of "stira" pronounciations, with different country accents. e.g. " STIGGRIIN" or " STiiRion". there are more ways to say stira than there are other words. its very important how well you can say "stira". Ferdi once told me he would decide who shall marry his daughter by the quality of his " stira".
I would say that personally i pack one of the top ten "stiras" in the country, and Ferdis definitly top ten material also. Id say the likes of Bahairy would be top 20, and Superman would be top 30.

    Keep practicing!

yes yes and i suppose your going to tell me a donkey is better than a car!

orange: storage space in the attic you're going to lose from the Stira being up there.
guess you never seen a stira, not even on the late-later show

orange why don't you come with us to dunmore and "discover stira"© it will be a good buzz.

BTW wheres seamus he usually has some thing to say about everything i write!

If one was building a new house could one use stiras instread of stairs? I think I'd like that. Could you please ask at the factory if they could take the strain of everyday use. If not, could you ask if it would be possible to create some kind of Super-Stira that could please?

So someone's a loser because you don't understand/share their interests? What's wrong with appreciating something that is compact, reliable and quality?

i pitty those of you who cannot fully comprehend the way of the stira. it changed my life and the lives of my friends spooiirt!!, superman and many others.

the beauty of a stira is in its simplicity, craftsmanship and quality.

Stira is the constant in a topsy tervy world - something we can cling to in times of hardship and strife.

It happened to my brother the stira saved his life god bless it.

For a while i lost control of the Stira, and i couldnt stop saying it or writing it on my desk. it almost drove me insane. Thankfully i regained control of "Stira", and ultimately, myself.
Stira is constantly evolving, it started as plain "Stira", then slowly morphed into "Stireean", then underwent various transformations, resulting in variants such as the popular "Stiggrhin". Its latest evolution is currently " Abodaidebodai"
    keep practicing!

We have a stira type thing going into our attic. It has this annoying habit of flying down all at one and nearly killing you in the process! (it's meant to come down in stages). Still though, so much better then climbing up the wobbly ladder and praying it wasn't going to fall sideways:D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,136 ✭✭✭Superman

blondie83 I suggest you call your local stira sales executive and tell him about your stira problem, This is definitely an isolated incident.

But overall has the stira enriched your world?

I am also sending out an open invitation for any body who wants to come and visit Dunmore and "discover stira"©. So far , its me, spooiirt!!, ferdi, bahairy and o'kearnain.and maybe m4cker. it will be aan adventurous buzz and very fun. when we get there we hope to arrange a tour of the factory and meeting with the inventor of the stira (yes, the man that was on the late-late show!).

I also plan to set up a show called "Pimp My Stira!"© it's going to show you all the latest bling:cool: you can give your stira; hydraulics, 24" spinners and sheeit!. It will involve much use of dremels

    stira set off a culture.

    a way of thinking.

    a life.

it is not meerly a convienient way to access an attic. it is an entire state of being.

stira is the voice in your head. it is the words on the tip of your tongue. it is the silence of your sleep, the taste of your food. it is the pressure between your arse and the seat you are now sitting on.

its powerful and elusive. timid and brash.

as you control it, it controls you.

you can never forget it no matter how hard you try. it manifestes itself continuously in your brain. and it reproduces...........constantly.

My uncle's house has what looks like a stira but it's actually a German brand (don't remember name) and they're said to be better. The horror!

I saw a Stira van parked in the city the other day, immediately thought "Stiggrhin" and almost shat myself laughing. Now I always carry a change of pantaloons just in case I should see the van again.

Hi... found this today... don't ask me how.

"Michael Burke founded the Stira Attic Stairs Company over 22 years ago, when he identified consumers wanted easy access to their loft space. His engineering background helped him create a sturdy folding stairs, but it took him over six months to develop an optimum design.

Kevin Cunningham joined the Dunmore (Co. Galway) company nearly five years ago and as design engineer at Stira, has overseen considerable changes at the company and its move into CAD - opening the door for greater accuracy and additional product lines. "

Does anyone have pictures of Michael Burke or know anything about him? Anyone got any news clippings, interviews, anything? Willing to trade.

Just in case someone does really want to let this thread die, I would like to take this opportunity to offer my ongoing support in the discussion and promotion of this life changing product.

Stira is a lifestyle, it represents a wholesome Ireland, an Ireland long forgotton in a haze of lattés, bling, smirnoff ice and The Corrs.

Stira is green cords, brown shoes and a purple sweater worn all at once.
Stira is a hang sangitch on white bread with lots of butter.
Stira is Wonderly Wagon, The Community Games, Síamsa......

    Stira foreveeeeeeeeeeer!

This is not a matter to be joked about, my brother was decending the afore mentioned "Stira" when overcome by gravity and his own clumsyness fell head first and has been in a stira induced coma for 8 years.

The family are currently seeking furthur damages from the stira "corporation of greed" in the hope that more advanced medical treatment can release my sibling from his staircase misadventure.
