Well there's plenty of these theads in All Things Retro... I'd go for either Mysterious Cities of Gold OR US Harmony Gold's Robotech.

anyone remember the cartoon that was based in the human body, and went through all the parts of the body and showed the baddies such as bacteria. Probably utter **** but that came into my head when thinking of old cartoons.

He-man the master of the universe was good too from what i can remember

I remember it! It was Once Upon A Time... Life IIRC. Can't find any decent results on Google though.

My fave of yesteryear would be Heman or Mysterious Cities of Gold. Would like to see a rerun of MCoG on Fox Kids or something.

Once Upon a Time..Life, ahh the memories, a journetythrough the body with some red blood cells.:)

The Flintstones where my favourites, I can still sing along with the team tune!

Wasn't really a cartoon but Fraggle Rock was also one of my faves, ah those doozers.

It's on Toonami now? So that's where it went! It was on Fox Kids at like 3:00am around last Christmas, followed by Mask of course. Now they're just showing smelly Power Rangers and even worse - VR Troopers. Eww...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,138 ✭✭✭✭Stark

I actually liked the mighty morphin power rangers (when they weren't out of suits and complaining about their perosnal lives that is). All the spin-offs were total ****e though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 394 ✭✭JCDenton

    Liked?

    Power rangers are brilliant!

Dr. Turk: Awww... Where's my lucky "Tabasco" rag?
J.D.: Why don't you use "Power Rangers"?
Dr. Turk: How are "Power Rangers" as lucky as "Tabasco"?
J.D.: Do you remember when communications with Zordon went down and the Megazord was destroyed?
Dr. Turk: How did I miss that episode? Oh, right. I was making love to a woman!
    J.D.: Power Rangers ho!

    But seriously,
The new clone wars cartoons are pretty cool too...

Back when i was younger, mask and turtles would have had it, with transformers and captain planet coming in close second.

Nowadays my faves are futurama and family guy, it would have been the simpsons but the new episodes ruined it completely.

Since very few ppl seem to take this as meaning comedy cartons such as the simps and futurama and just kids cartoons then I'll leave them out of the running. So I'm just going to afto give my vote to the best of this entire thread (no one has even mentioned it!): The Pinky and The Brain

    Pinky and the Brain
    They're Pinky and the Brain
    Yes, Pinky and the Brain
One is a genius, the other's insane
    They're laboratory mice
    Their genes have been spliced
    They're dinky
They're Pinky and the Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain,
    Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain

    Before each night is done
    Their plan will be unfurled
By the dawning of the sun
    They'll take over the world

    They're Pinky and the Brain
    Yes, Pinky and the Brain
    Their twilight campaign
    Is easy to explain
    To prove their mousey worth
    They'll overthrow the Earth
    They're dinky.
They're Pinky and the Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain,
    Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, NARF!

    Think i'll change my sig......^^

Ulysses did rock-the music for large fight sequences rules.Anyway I also want to say that ulysses himself looks an awful lot like Jayces da' from Jayce and the wheel-warriors (anyone remember that enemy car with the snake head-in every episode that head would get abused-clamped,driven over etc.Sawbosses whipping boy cleary!).80's action cartoons are much better than the trash kids watch these days.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,135 ✭✭✭KlodaX

I've a few... at the moment its 'Fairly odd parents' and 'Xiaolin Showdown'

it used to be 'Pinky and the Brain' or 'Ren and Stimpy' ... I liked 'Batman: the animated series' ... as a kid it was 'Teenage mutant hero turtles' ...

    the new turtles cartoon sucks.

Battle of the planets was my fave. We use to play battle of the planets when we were in junior/senior infants - there was a fat kid in our class and we made him stay behind with the ship like Tiny did!

I also remember getting a action figure of Jason in Tenerife one year - my favourite toy ever. I wonder where it is now...:(

I don't think I could pick one from my childhood; But the best new cartoon is most definitely Samuri Jack.

Danger Mouse, never been any other cartoon quite like it. Cosgrove Hall made all the best cartoons and Trap Door has to be number 2.

Ulysses, captain planet, once upon a time life and defenders of the earth were good

Jem (truly outrageous) was also good

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,477 ✭✭✭weemcd

I liked batman and turtles. samurai jack is fantastcic though, the way the programme is made is more like a film, the use of perspective, camera actions and slomo etc is fantastic :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,924 ✭✭✭Cork

    Wacky Racers and Bugs Bunny.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 610 ✭✭✭article6

Animaniacs was hilarious fun for all the family, quite literally. The first few series of the "Pinky And The Brain" series were quite good too - before they brought in that hideous girl.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 947 ✭✭✭neXus9

The tick and ren and stimpy were hilarious!!

Batman beyond was pretty cool and when I was a kid I loved animaniacs and tiny toon adventures (remember watching the first ever episode).

    Also tintin was brilliant.
