I must just congratulate RTE on their editing of the Smallville episode yesterday .
Amazingly they decided to cut the into before the credits eliminating 5 mins of the show.
    Bravo

I just assumed I missed the start.

Did they do this because of editing reasons. An attampted prison esacape was mentioned so there may have been a fair bit of violence. Although they did show
    Lex getting electoshock therapy
later on so maybe thats not the reason.

I have seen RTE do that many times, they are just useless muppets.

I have seen RTE do that many times, they are just useless muppets.

I personnally haven't seen them do this.

However my feelings towards RTE Network 2's schedule is not so good, In relation to Smallville

    1. Certain Scene in this series should be cut if you are going to show this show at 1.30 in the day, I am personally not one for censorship and feel that rather then censor scene would place the show in a prime time slot.
    2. Almost all of the Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman was shown during prime time on a saturday night. What makes Smallville so different.

Oh wait Smallville is good, Lois and Clark not so good, funny in areas but not great, enjoyable to watch but not worthy of prime time. (How diplomatic was i there with Lois and Clark?)

Smallville is a very good show and deserves a decent slot.
It goes out at 8pm in the US and 9pm on E4 .
RTE were actually ahead of E4 until the 6 Nations delayed the series on RTE.

sorry there but rte were almost in sync with e4 with e4 showing it on thursday RTE on the saturday of the same week until the 6 nations.

Smallville is a good show but my god don't you just feel like giving Clarke a smack in the gob every now and then for being such a pansy. For someone who is so powerful he's such a wuss. I thought I'd heard that it was being cancelled? Is this true?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,963 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

The rumour it was cancelled was a pathetic April Fools day prank.
Warner Bros just announced they are commissioning a fourth series .
    Good news.

Seems E4 are only 1 week behind the US.

E4 shows new Smallville Mondays @ 9pm. At the beginning of season 3, E4 & Net2 were showing the same episode each week, E4 on Mondays, Net2 on Saturdays.
Certain Scene in this series should be cut if you are going to show this show at 1.30 in the day, I am personally not one for censorship and feel that rather then censor scene would place the show in a prime time slot.

Yeah, this was mentioned in the original thread when Smallville moved to Saturday lunchtime. It's not the goriest show out there, but it definitely isn't suited to a lunchtime slot. John Doe, which moved with Smallville is a lot worse for violence/blood and yet a lunchtime slot is where Net2 chooses to air it *shrug*.

Actually E4 are only 1 episode behind the US but 7 weeks behind.. The only reason E4 have nearly caught up is because there has been a six week break in the US. There is new episode on tonight in the US.

I just happen AHEM to have a copy of the original American version of this episode nearby. I just watched the intro again. I am not sure what RTE cut but there were 3 violent incidents when Lex was trying to escape the loony bin:

    1. He stabbed guard no. 1 in the leg.
    2. He beat up guard no. 2 with a baton.
    3. He electrocuted himself in a failed attempt to scale the electric fence.

The stabbing in particular was a bit vicious for a kiddie audience.

Not to get overly neardy about this but...

    1. He is now only starting to really good Hearing
    2. He still cannt full see through walls

Ah I am prob wrong about this and some even more nerdier will post that I am wrong, oh well.

It has to get to at least 5 seasons, buffy got that she might have even got more.

is there a store in Smallville that sells only Krytonite rocks exclusively as it seems that every villain and his grandmother has access to it
i can just imagine the scene with all the VOTW queing outside the "Kryptonite Rock shop"

? Yes he can. It's only lead-lined walls that he can't see through. This is fully demonstrated in the episode 3x14 - "Orpheus" - that was shown on E4 recently.

They don't need to buy it you can pick it up/dig it out of the ground in most places.

But to actually answer your question, yes there is, the jewellery store sells kryptonite jewellery.

All the girls think Clark Kent is cute and notice how he just "swoons" over Kryptonite Jewrelly. No wonder sales are through the roof.

    23:50 24
    00:45 The Big Bang Theory
    01:10 Trust Me
    02:00 United States of Tara
    02:30 Pushing Daisies

I mean I can see why you would put TBBT on at 00:45, in fairness its far to early and really should be shown long after United States of Tara :)

On the new thread I have repeatedly asked if it has started on E4 yet, I might get an answer here.

I think RTÉ might not have got the last 3 episodes yet they just broadcast "Escape" last Friday. "Checkmate" was shown Friday 2nd April on the CW. But that is just a guess.

So is E4 showing this show?

you might be right, maybe its just a brief delay, RTÉ would hardly stop showing it altogether, its on at a strange time alright but they've kept it going so far, why give up on season 9.

I was just wondering what was going on too, but maybe we've caught up with the US and RTE are waiting on more episodes.

Not on next week either, RTÉ have hardly given up on the show altogether? Until I came on this site I wondered was I the only person watching it on RTÉ!

Unlikely they have given up on the show (well they did that when they moved it to early morning 5 years ago). I don't know what is up.

Funny, I remember about 5 years back it was run amongst kids shows in the mid morning weekday slot in the summer - couldn't help but think at the time that some of the events were a bit 'mature' for such a slot, one episode involved a naked woman being found dead and bloody in Lex's bed. Didn't really seem to fit in with the cartoons being shown at same time. knwong RTÉ they probally read 'superman' and threw into the kids slot!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 145 ✭✭Cyndaquil

It seems Smallville returns to RTÉ on Thursday 20th May with episode 16, 'Checkmate' (the programe info gives the description for ep 15 but given we've already had that on RTÉ its probably a mistake).

Well the link is also suggesting that they are only showing Day 7 hour 15 of 24, when they are on Day 8 and into at least Hour 4.

    You sure that wasn't E4.

Now that season 10 has premiered in the US I wonder how long it will be before RTE airs it. Usually its on by late November/early December. One wonders will they keep it in the Thursday night/Friday morning slot. Still, at least RTE usually get it quicker than E4.

The other problem is that you have to keep an eye out of the late night schedules since RTÉ don't promote their late night shows. I was thinking after Christmas but if it is earlier that is great. E4 might want to go straight into the final season from season 9.

Season 9 started in June! Looking at ther E4 site there no date announced. Maybe they have to pay more to show it sooner. I remember when RTE first showed Star gate SG1...it came on at 1am on a Tuesday nite from memory.

Emailed RTÉ they have the rights but no date for transmission. It's likely to return to late night Thursdays, hopefully November or December. E4 are still broadcasting season 9. RTÉ just finished when they started.

Just checked on the site below and there's no sign of it on RTÉ up till 26th November, so hopefully December... Usually it's back by December and there's a gap over Christmas, after which the gap gradually closes to a couple of weeks or so behind the US.

    http://uk-tv-guide.com

Might be worth keeping on eye on this site over the next few weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 145 ✭✭Cyndaquil

Still no sign of it, but there are two slots "To be announced" on the night of December 3rd/morning of December 4th from 2:05-2:55am and 2:55-3:50am one of which could be a candidate for Smallville to fill.

A friend emailed RTÉ, apparently season 10 will be shown but not until the new year; and to keep an eye on the RTÉ guide and website. I can't imagine there any specific advertising for it, just listings. As far as RTÉ are concerned its not exactly Lost or Desperate Housewives, but then again 24 never got treated much better.

They did up to season 3 when Sky started to show 24. Why can't they show it before xmas? As you say its not like its Lost or DH.

I've been wondering the same thing. Usually its back by now, I remember last year the Justice League two-parter was shown by RTÉ around March, and that would have been well into the season. I've scanned ahead on uk-tv-guide.com as far as the end of February and still no sign of it. That said I'd keep an eye on the weekly guides just in case. Unless they're saving it till the Summer or something.
