Seeing how I cannot reply to skanger's post in admin/support i had to post a new thread here to express my views on Sangre's banning. I have nothing to say on the overall job the admins are doing as expressed by skanger but i do feel strongly regarding sangre's banning. I know his posts might not always go down well with some people, but for the vast majority of boards users his (almost always lighthearted) witty replies and gentle jibes brighten up the dreariest of threads. While i cannot speak for other users, I know that i personally, will get less pleasure from reading boards.ie now than i did before.

Why did he/she get banned in the first place?

He was banned from After Hours permanently a while ago. He registered a second account just to get around that ban and I caught him, banned the second account and warned him not to do that again or I would ban him. He was very indignant about this, his reasoning being something along the lines that he has a duty to tell people how stupid they are, and this evening I caught him doing it again.

(here's a clue, if you're going to sign up a second account, it's kinda obvious if your very first post on boards.ie is talking about how you generally react to posters you've had disagreements with).

since when do people get banned for multiple accounts? i know you threatened him before about posting on AH with another alias but actually banning him from the whole site over it is too much. :dunno:

he wasnt banned for having multiple accounts, he was banned for using his multiple accounts to get passed a ban put on him, he was caught and warned with a total banning, and did it again... ecksor followed through on his promise...

tbh, he made a few comments that annoyed me, but I can get over it considering the hilarity of the child pr0n thread, and the fact that he made a lot of people laugh. I dunno - I'm sure there's a balance between the potentially nazi-like, humourless Boards.ie, and one where people can get away with insulting other posters.

Surely a bit of good old-fashined apologising would solve the whole thing, wouldn't it?

I think there should be one rule for the amusing posters and another rule for the Ronaldo7esque posters.

If this was in operation Sangre wouldn't be banned and Ronaldo7 would be - just for example like.

I think we can all agree that that would be a far better state of affairs. Except perhaps for Ronaldo7.

Well, from what i hear Ronaldo acted as the catalyst for sangre on AH.

tbh, Bending the rules for one user is a bad way to go about the running of boards (Hey,im not an admin or mod just a user with an opinien) but I do think it was harsh to get Sangre banned as he was, sure he broke the rules and was an idiot for regestering another account to post on a forum he was banned from but i do think he was one of the few level headed people around boards who didn't succumb to the pleasuring of a sympathy gland or *Hugz* as his clique used to call it

But i dont think a banning was all that necessary. is it not possible to ban people from boards itsself for a few days (by this i mena the users who have been boards for quite some time and who had a regular sain imput and not those who spam or have just discovered the place)

Im sure if it was explained to him *NOT* to go a reregestering again to post on a forum and instead plead his case to Monty that he would do so (then again, he is a law student).

I would also like to join the free Sangre / ban Ronaldo7 movement. Look at the posts by each of them. Sangre had some funny posts, and Ronaldo just annoys me (sorry man), cos he gets a bit insulting when he feels threatned - I think he really means what he says when he insults them, whereas Sangre is just having a laugh

If boards wasnt as big as it was, people might realise that ronaldo is an utter halfwit with nothing to contribute apart from acting as flamebat for people with a little wit (such as sangre) which makes for a more enjoyable experience.

Unfortunatly they both just meld into the background noise of bored support desk employees typing about their favorite sort of pet.
