    Beat me to it!!

I got PC Gamer magazine today and had a look. My reaction was "ooooo .... " followed by copious amounts of drool and staring by other people on the bus :D

Of all the space marine chapters...

For some obscure reason, the ultra-marines seem to be the chapter of choice for all things digital & gw-related (with the exception of Space-Hulk, although I've not played Firewarrior yet so I can't comment on that).

    FInal Liberation: ultramarines
    Chaos Gate: ultramarines
Rites of War: can't recall rightly though so could be wrong on this one.

Well, they ARE supposed to be the most noble and successful chapter in the Imperium...

But yeah, they really are a bit dull...

    Firewarrior is Ultra Marines too

Bring on the space wolves :) Now thatd be fun

Id personally like to see the Legion of the Damned in action, or, of course, SPace Wolves. Grey Knights would be nice to see too, although their not really space marines. Although in this game theres no Ultra Marines, read that interview and he said they made their own space marine chapter, so, yay :)

I still think Dark Angels are the coolest

Based on who though, that's what I want to know.

EDIT: Actually, I don't care anymore. I had a look through a magazine this morning, and it looks very, very nifty. The commander character is the business, wading into combat with his two-handed thunderhammer, sending half a dozen Orks flying (literally. There are some lovely effects there...) with every swing...

And there's heaps of blood and gore! Hurrah, they're not dumbing it down!

    Hehehehe... I love this pic.

Is it just me, or are there only three races in this:(

Were are my necrons?! Man, never mind the game, I cant wait for the expansion pack: "Dawn of War: Rise of the Machine God"

OOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Imagine playin with a C' tan in this game!

Jesus H. Christ the Second! I cant wait:D

As far as know it's nowhere near completion, so the races you see in the screenshots probably aren't all you'll see. On another note, in the very early days of developement there was talk of making the onlne play HUGE. The original Idea was that you could buy new squads online from games workshop, and you get a relatively big army with the game. Dont know if there still planning this kind of thing, but it's seriously lame.

After playing chaos gate and dark omen it's obvoious that good thing can come of warhmmer games. And with relic in charge, chances are it will be something special.

It wud probably be cheaper than collecting the models. :)

Although It wudnt surprise me if they did this.

I wud be another example of games workshop exploiting the fans for more money.

Would it, now? Somehow I have no trouble whatsoever envisioning virtual squads of tactical marines going for 40 quid or more (because they won't fall off the table and break, will they? And they're easier to "paint" and conversions are a doddle...), payable by credit card over a secure encrypted net channel...

the article says they're doing 4 armies, space marines, orks and chaos are mentioned, i'd guess elder will be the 4th.

they may put the eastern fringe xenos known as the tau in. games developers have been mauling the tau cos they appeal to newbies to the hobby since the tau themselves are newbies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭Kold

    Tau are stupid. Eldar forever

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31,967 ✭✭✭✭Sarky

I kinda like the Tau. They're what we'd like to see ourselves as in several thousand years time, none of this dark ages crap and witchcraft. Technology all the way!

Although Eldar would indeed rock in no small way.

God, I hope they end up doing expansions for all the armies...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,257 ✭✭✭hairyheretic

I could see the Tau being picked, or maybe the Tyranids.

The eldar are a dead race .. they just haven't stopped twitching yet :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,136 ✭✭✭Pugsley

I doubt you will se Nids, their pretty much the last thing you ever see in anything, sort of a side product released to clean up some parts of the galaxy to brigthen up the history :)

(and give them silly ultramarines a purpose, Magregge anyone?)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31,967 ✭✭✭✭Sarky

Now it WOULD be nice to see Lord Marnius Calgar pick up an ork by the nech with his powerfist and empty a few bolter rounds into his chest. Mmm, Gauntlets of Ultramar...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭Kold

I can't see them animating Tyranids to any great effect. I mean, imagine a tyranid horde attacking... It'd be unlike any other. They'd have to come up with some complicated assed player models and completely different AI.

    I can see necrons though.

Eldar are the greatest race EVAAAH

Blood Angels are obviously the best.

Eldar were confirmed as the 4th race in the game. Apparently one of this months gaming mags has a preview / review, and there's a screenshot of an Avatar, looking properly to scale and burning away as it attacks something.

I think someone on the Portent forums revealed this.

    /me wets self.

    Oh, thing of wondrous beauty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,257 ✭✭✭hairyheretic

Screenshots ... some you may have seen before

    http://wh40k.mednickonline.com/modules.php?name=Screenshots

The Avatar one is in here .. as are looted russes, and some very nice looking firefights.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,136 ✭✭✭Pugsley

No bugs then? ah well, didnt really expect them to make an appearance, would have looked seriously cool in this tho :)

And this one. Kinda reminds me of Age of Mythology, the Titans.

    Speaking of Titans.....I wonder.

    New DoW stuff.

    http://dawnofwargame.com/uk/homepage.php

I've had a quick look over the site, and it looks well.

    http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=26422

A unit listing from their forums page

And a 140 meg movie showing off stuff

I'm currently downloading it, and about a half hour left to go on it.

They also have the specs for the game listed on the main site ...

    Minimum System Requirements:
    Windows® 98/2000/XP/ME with Direct X 9.0b (included),

Pentium III, 1 GHz, 128 MB RAM (256 MB RAM for Windows XP).

DirectX 9.0b compatible AGP video card with Hardware Transform and Lighting and 32 MB or more memory.

DirectX 9.0b compatible 16-bit sound card.

    Keyboard and mouse required.

Yet one more reason I need to upgrade my machine.

If you have broadband, download the movie and you'll really see some stuff.

The scene where the Bloodthirster comes into play and starts slaughtering marines looks excellent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,149 ✭✭✭✭Lemming

Oh man that video was sweet. Watching the Avatar impale guys on his sword and letting them slide down it before tossing them aside :D

The bloodthirster was really cool, although watching the Space Marine Commander take it down was even better!

    Go download!!
