TrinLAN will once again be held as part of the Leprecon games convention, this year in the 24th/25th of February. Same as last year its a bring your own computer affair with games going on from 10am to 7pm saturday and sunday, and clubbing for the rest of it.

Will have information on booking etc soon, for the moment though anyone interested in coming keep the date free

    Cheers

    Dave

I think we'll see a lot of players at TrinLAN. We haven't had a proper bring-your-own-pc LAN in quake3 yet. we need a good LAN to settle old grudges heh. Nice timing.

Pred: date is as posted - 24/25 of Feb. Ive no idea when UCG rag week is on, but this date is final, so theres nothing I can do about it (ie you'l have to change rag week instead)

Sonic: Cable good. Switches good. Will talk to you when Ive got more of the details worked out, cheers.

Ah no I think it's cool when they spend 20 minutes staring at the pile of wood, then another 20 taking one out, then the audience claps for a further 20. its great. we should do that instead of playing nerdy games.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,601 ✭✭✭Kali

doesnt that count as physical exercise though?
i thought they were all morally opposed to participating in that sort of thing...
should just use the shotguns in their coats anyway to knock the bricks out.

skyclad as i said on the cs board, I can bring a 16 port hub and a 700mhz athlon server running win2k and i'm going to get some extra ram for it. it was the one that i was using last year at the lans, it ran big games of quake3 then and i was using it at the same time so it should be good by its self.

    Hi Lads,
    at the moment I have
    a 16 port 10mb hub
    12 port 10mb hub
    5 port 100mb switch.

So to be honest we dont really need anymore hubs. But I'll be disappointed if the whole lan isnt on switches this year. So if anybody has 100mb switchs they could lend to us for the duration please post here, or email me or skyclad.

OK sounds like we should have enough in the switch/hub department, Im sure a good few people have their own rj45 cables at this stage, just a few to connect to the servers etc would be cool with a few to spare.

Registration is going to start some time next week, should be space and power for about 30-40 computers (fingers crossed).

My trusted henchman Quozl will be dealing with the setup on friday night as I wont be in Dublin until late

Vorosha, as for those dícks from last time with the long black coats and hair, Im one of them, so maybe you would prefer not to come lest you have to associate with us. Maybe you could even organise your own LAN rather then have us organise TrinLAN and DubLAN every year.

Anyway, looking forward to a good weekend

    Dave

the Athlon server i'm bringing will have 256 megs of ram, I'm going to start d/l all the server updates for cs and quake, quake3. just tell me what you want the server to run and i'll have it up-todate for you. its going to have a 14" monitor that is **** and can only do 800x600 with a ati agp card, so it wont be anygood to play on smile.gif but it will run a server hands down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 488 ✭✭Sonic

Damn that Trish bird. I knew she was dodgy from the first time I met her. Well if you cannt get them to us till saturday, tis ok.
But does anybody have switches who could give them to us on friday? I would like to have the setting up done friday as it will likely take a few hours of muppeting around, and I wanna play from the start of saturday.

Sonic can you bring a crimper? I can crimp a load of those cables too. If you, me and a few others split the work, wont be too bad. If you cannt bring crimpers, I can prob borrow one from across the road. Tho its often an interesting job finding it.

daire. you've overlooked the coat problem entirely. poor show. i'm picturing beards aswell. the bun would certainly help their field of vision for the rigourous test of human strength, endurance and indeed marksmanship that is jenga. so, to conclude, there are pros and cons to your solution but room for improvement. i propose a decoating and total hair removal scheme, thus adding the element of social acceptability to their repetoire of skills and abilities (as in dungeons and dragons).

    Ok, ok, ok!

I've got me a puter (borrowed one, but nevertheless), so naturally I want to attend TrinLAN. It's been a little quiet during the last week, so how's it comiing along?
