Free Standing Punch Bags

I am interested in getting a heavy punch bag. I reckon punching the **** out of a bag until you're exhausted has to be a good cardio workout. Also useful for venting anger and frustrations :)

I reckon a free standing bag would suit my needs better than a bag which hangs from the ceiling. Does anyone here own one of these free standing bags or know anything about them?

Free standing bags do not seem to be that readily available in this country. I have found the following two. The second one looks to be a better bet as it seems to have a more substantial base plus it's 100 quid cheaper

Anyone know of any other places that these things can be got?

Final question for the moment is: can anyone recommend a decent pair of bag mitts and again where is a good place to get them. Any general comments on boxing and boxing equipment are also appreciated

    Thanx

Yeah, I defintely would go for a free standing punchbag.I was given a present of a suspendable punchbag but unfortunately I live in the top floor of an old georgian house, so there isn't much chance of hanging and using it at the moment. However I do occasionally use it to practise kicks and punchs and it is the best stress relief you will ever get.

I usually use my TKD mitts, but these aren't really meant for heavy contact. I guess that martial arts shop on George's Street mightn't be a bad place to start.

Look up BOB or SparPro, expensive but good!
Check out boxing/Thai boxing sites , uppercut bags and kick bags are sturdier than normal bags. You can get water filled pressurised bags, what do you want to pay for a bag?A Military surplus duffel stuffed with rags can suffice.Up to you and your situation.
