Up in dub so no western suggestions, but I was in with O'muirgheatach(sp) (thats the son of the GAA commentator) He's physio for Kildare team and quickly diagnosed a prob I was having with my left hamstring. He's based in maynooth so he's fairly accessible for you. (compared to in the city)
    Hope this helps.

mostly tightness around my knee (from hamstrings or calf i'm not sure )and plantar fascia in the foot,im doing stretching and icing for my foot but no solution to the tightness apart from stretching which helps short term,i had an mri on my back which shows a bulging disc at L5 but no sign of nerve damage

You'd be surprised the impact your back can have. I had a pain in my hamstring which would appear two hours into a race. Wouldn't stop me, but was ceratinly an inconvenience. Was down to a tightness in my back. now that has no impact on your problems, but its worth bearing in mind that cause and effect can be different.

the tightness in your back ,was that causing hamstring problems on one side only?,i'm interested to know,i have similar problems and stretching provides temporary relief,i don't know if it's down to the disc or tightness or whatever,i'm unable to get a definite diagnosis

yeah, only the left hamstring. got given a set of exercises to do on my back that completely relieved it. Didn't even *need* go back for my check up.

i do a pretty thorough stretching routine .what back stretches did you do ,knee to chest ?lying face down and raise legs or something different

I was given 4 or 5 exercises. Its been a while, one face down and kind of do a push up but keep you rhips on the ground. Its not a strech but it certainly works. also scrunching up. with your shins on the ground bring your chest/shoulders to your knees - curving your back. There were a few others, slightly less standard, I'll see if I can dig out the exercise sheet when I go home in a few days. There was something to do with lying half on half of a bed - can't remember though.
