That entirely depends on what you want to achieve. Are you taking protein as part of an Atkins / Zone diet (to lose weight)? Are you hoping to bulk up (to gain weight)? Are you just taking it as part of a training regime (maintain a weight, but tone up)?

I assume once or twice a day, depending on your needs.

It really depends on you schedule (both personal and training). It's hard to give advice without knowing when you work and when you train.

Perhaps a shake in the morning (breakfast) and one post-workout might be a good way to start. Keep an eye on you weight and body composition (fat percentage) and adjust as neccessary.

I'd also make a point that if you are trying to gain a significant amount of muscle, that you should be eating "proper" food regularly in addition to taking extra protein. Basically, eat your regular meals as you always would and fill in the gaps in between with the odd protein shake.

I used to take it when I lifted weights and I would advise taking it after workouts, I used to take it every day and found myself overweight and flabby and so stopped it and took up cardio. I know most bodybuilder types will tell ya take it every day but if you are not on a serious level of weight training I'd recommend it only after a workout.

Whey protein doesn't make you flabby. There must have been some other reason why you got fat. A serving of whey gives around 17-25 g of protein and around 90-130 calories (depending on what brand you use) That's about the same number of calories as 1 chocolate biscuit.

I was going to the gym a lot last year doing weights. Gave me a good shape but i didnt really get built,
so im getting back into the gym next week hoping that the protein will help build me up.
