Yeah, hope to do an Audax setup with it.
Have a Shimano 600 tri-colour group set all lined up.
As a frame and groupset in a box it takes up less room. :D

Nice looking shed taxman - is it one of them plastic coated steel yokes or one of those new fangled UPC jobbies? Where d'ya get it from?

    Another Colnago for the thread!

@ letape Stunning bike. The paint job on that frame is amazing.

@mp31 It's a steel shed clad with timber effect PVC. Got it from Steeltech sheds.

Cheers Tax Man - the paint on the old colnagos certaintly was beautiful. Id like to get a set of chrome precisa forks but they are hard to come by.

Seeing as everyone is on the old bikes buzz just now.

Friend just picked it up for $100 in craigslist in the US, it's an 85 Fuji Sagres, never ridden, in perfect condition, came with the rack fitted but he removed it.

Same lad was living here until June just gone and bought a late 80's Raleigh Persuit for €75 when he was here that was pretty much perfect besides some frame rust.

    Fecker has a talent.

    Sweet find for your friend.

he's about 6'3 and says it's perfect for him. But head, some length in the headtube!

It was never ridden before he bought it.

Yes it is. Truly orgeous bike. Collies were always well regarded for gorgeous looking paint jobs. The fancy paint stuff really hit a peak with the Italians in the early 90's and there were some other makers turning out real beauties, but Colnago kept that going.

But very delicate with it. Yours is amazingly well preserved though I notice the tyre rub on the inside chainstays. :) Such a Columbus thang with their steelies. Some will say "steel is so floppy" and that's the reason, but I reckon the wheels flexing is a lot of it. I knew a guy who got an old NOS steel SL Pinerello, but put all mod cons on it, including hyper stiff carbon rims and no inner chainstay wear(also got the weight down to 17 lbs in old money, sans pedals:eek:). I do recall way back in my the day when Columbus stuff was rare on Irish roads. Most rode Reynolds frames and any who did who hopped onto my SLX job always commented on how much stiffer the back triangle was. That and how close unrelaxed the angles were. Like yours with barely a centimetre between seat tube and tyre. That Gilco tubing was lovely. A real step forward.

BTW L I love how you have the Campy 11 speed smuggled from the future gear train and brifters, carb seatpost, new fangled stem and bars, but put on old school Campy cobalto brakes. Brilliant!:D Rare item too. I'd put money that with modern pads they're pretty good too. I've been tempted to do the whole brifter thang with my old girl, but I'd be keeping the Dura Ace AX brakes for spite(plus they work remarkably well with modern pads cut to fit, progressive and not snatchy). I'd also retain my C record crank with new rings. Nuclear bomb proof and pretty light for an alloy part
Id like to get a set of chrome precisa forks but they are hard to come by.
Very, though the Collie carbon forks with one inch steerers are as rare these days. LOvely bike.

Funkay bike from Seaneh's mate. Fuji made some good bikes back in the day and the Tange tubing sets could be very good, even if barely known this side of the world.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

    Cheers Wibbs

I was very temped (and still might) to build the frame up with a C-Record Delta groupset. I had one with first generation Ergopower shifters back in the day and part of me would like to build the bike with those components.

I had the 11 speed parts on a winter frame which was didn't make sense, so I thought it would be a good use of the parts! The cobalto calipers work very well with original NOS campagnolo synterized pads. Got a new set on ebay for not much money and they make a big difference to the stopping power. The only problem is that the front brake screeches on the rim, hope it will quieten down when the rim wears in!

All the parts are current other than the calipers and I have a set of wheels built with campagnolo record silver hubs, which are 11 speed compatible and about as smooth as a pair of hubs you can get.

Thanks for your interest in the bike :)

I know it's a bit of a miserable day, but it's been a god one for me.

First, I got a job. So does anyone know any good routes for a spin from Dundalk?!

Second, I finished building this, which I really like as a "second" bike!

It's a Wilier Escape built up with 105 shifters and mechs, Tiagra compact chainset and Sora brakes, and I am having a good day, thanks!

EDIT: Big thank you has to go to Marq Dublin, Zippe, Aido1111 and Everti from here for supplying parts that went with it.

Thanks, I'll need to do a bit of research into finding routes and the like now. It should be interesting!

Can't remember if this has been posted yet.

Enormous picture of Movistar Dogma 2.

I post it for two reasons:

    1. I quite like it, even though it is very heavy and has stupid wavy forks.

    2. The staggering image size shows that the maximum torque for the seatpost collar is 3Nm. Three!

I think perhaps that MOST SAFE™ is some sort of Italian joke.
