+1 Had a fixie for a bit and quite frankly got very bored of it.
The copper colour is very cool looking.

I've never had a fixed-gear bike, but I would have thought a single-speed would have most of the advantages of a fixed-gear with fewer downsides.

What downsides? Put pegs for your feet and all the downsides are sorted.

cramcycles dreams came true. Another box is now in my hall. Unfortunately my neighbour signed for it.

the copper bike - i bought it originally in 1992 from sean duff cycles. Lots of sentimental value.

I can't speak from experience, so I'll of course defer to those of you who have experience of fixies, but this rather offputting image from Sheldon Brown of what can happen if you lose concentration while performing maintenance on a fixie made a big impression on me years ago.

EDIT: Not an image for the squeamish, I should emphasise.

And now for something completely different.

This one has been a long time coming and is a major milestone for me. I was 13St 7lb when I restarted cycling 18 months ago and now after a lot of work I'm down to this.

It may not be an image of beauty for everyone but it is for me :D Plus I turn 40 years old before the end of this month......Go Me !!!

I know what I've just done, it's like at work when a cute looking woman walks past and you say to your colleague, "did you see that wan that walked past?" and he's like "no" and you're like "she was savage".
