I really want to get their recent album but last time I checked it was sold out. If it's as good as I think it'll be then I'd definitely be interested in going to this.

They're the "next big thing" now aren't they? That stupid list in The Irish Times, "What's hot, What's cold" called them "Coldplay Lite" today. I hate that list.
(i have a special bond with quotation marks)

Yeah they are getting a lot of Coldplay comparrisons even though they have been around a long time before coldplay....
In fact I saw them in Dorans playing with Wilt during my first year in college about 5 years ago.

    Jesus I'm old.....:(

    Can't wait.

    cannot. ****ing. wait. :D:D

still get silly chills when i think about their last gig at the tbmc. and the one before that. and the one before... when gary whacked me in the face with the stage door on his way out. bless! so yes, i'll be there as i always am, with a great big stupid smile on my face, singing along quietly and annoying them with requests for 'starfighter pilot'.

snow patrol. i swear, you just can't beat them live.

('final straw' is excellent. it's the only album from last year that i listen to properly... no skipping of tracks... buy it!)

do you think they will only play new tracks? or will there be a healthy mix. their first album is my favourite.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 151 ✭✭Pencapchew

Just picked up my ticket for the gig. This will be an amazing gig, ive seen them live so many times and they are well worth it. I only hope they play a longer set than the last one in tbmc and this time they play the first song off final straw called how to be dead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,371 ✭✭✭acquiescefc

Deffo think it was too short at TBMC, around 45 mins. Not good, only complaint tho!
Remember when they played Run?? Twas the first time id heard it as I hadnt bought the album until then. People clapped for about 2 mins after it ended.
    Will never forget that.

No 5 in the UK...damn good goin.

And on the subject of Coldplay, subtle difference is COldplay are sh1t prima donnas, Snow Patrol are not.

I wonder if it's wrong that I torched my copy of the Sunday Times that called them "this year's Coldplay".

    Too much, maybe?

But yes. I'll be buying my ticket this week, I hope.

    as far as i remember,
they only played starfighter pilot the last time
and one night is not enough from 2nd album,
but it should be a few songs longer this time!

    no. 5

last time i saw them play i was hoping that they would play "get balsanic vinegar, quick you fool".. but they didn't, i haope they do this time. they are a great live band

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 151 ✭✭Pencapchew

yeah....a longer set with a bigger mix of old and new songs would be great, i still loved their last gig in the tbmc, really hope they play how to be dead this time.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,105 ✭✭✭Tyrrial

indeed! how to be dead is a great song. best on the album as far as i'm conserned. but not quite the best snoe patrol song

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 388 ✭✭da_deadman

this should be a good gig. Im really looking forward to it. They were good at witness and the tbmc gig was great (even if it was a bit short). I hope this one is just as good.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 574 ✭✭✭Silent Grape

how long do u think itll be before its sold out?? im a bit strapped for cash at the mo, but im terrified of leaving it too late (again) and not being able to go (again)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,059 ✭✭✭memaeve

Yea, was wondering that myself. Anyone care to make an educated guess? :)

Just over a week to go!

Support is Iain Archer (also in The Reindeer Section), who you also remember from Turin Brakes in Vicar St last year. Hes playing with some of the members of The Amazing Pilots, who live up to their adjective.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 115 ✭✭furryvision

iain archer is brilliant!! upstaged turin brakes at vicar st. that time i thought, well i thought turin brakes were **** anyway.
Yiz may be interested to hear that snow patrol are also playin instore tower records on 27th, 2:30 PM

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 574 ✭✭✭Silent Grape

i left it too late AGAIN to get my tickets, now they're sold out. my heart is actually breaking.

good news about tower though, that shud make the blow about 1% more bearable to deal with.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 115 ✭✭furryvision

there was someone sellin a ticket face value on the frames site the other day, prob gone by now but keep an eye out there and on snow patrol message board, you never know! people always have spares that they dont wanna sell to scummy touts

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 172 ✭✭sillisome fiend

there'll be a few hangovers floatin about the ambassador stage tonight no doubt.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,059 ✭✭✭memaeve

Pity about the Instore, was there myself.
The gig is going ahead tonight as far as I know.

yeah i was rather bummed meself...twas me only chance of seeing em dis time around...i reckon the hangover theory was correct...either that or they just werent arsed to come down all the way from belfast that early!which i completely understand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 172 ✭✭sillisome fiend

wow what an amazing gig!!:D they're better live then I ever expected. hopefully they'll come back soon. they apologized about tower...said they'll play it next time ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,181 ✭✭✭✭Jim

Yeah, quite enjoyed it myself. My only gripe is that they only played 4 songs off "When Its All Over....." and none off "Songs For Polar Bears".

Black and Blue and then Spitting Games. Briliant.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,371 ✭✭✭acquiescefc

She reeeeeescues me...class jumpin up and down stuff

Gazza reckons his throat was dodgy so he couldnt make the Tower gig and wanted to save it for last nite.

Good call. Says they will play tower next time.
