Ok heres the deal , we now have a a PERMANENT QUAKE3 SERVER here in ul. Last week we formed the UL Multiplayer Computer Games Society. As part of this we put together a quake3 server.

Its a PII 333 with 256mb of ram
10mbit connection to the web pipelined all the way to inex.

The q3 box is running Windows 2000 Server and the server is running the osp mod.

The ip is 136.201.103.5 so work away and gimme feed back , jonathan.deane@ul.ie

Very nice server, nice low pings back to the old guns island days.

Also BiO would like to offer the use of our clan server to any Irish clan members who want to play clan games, ffa's or anything uninterrupted.
It gives stable pings for Irish modemers and isnder's alike even tho it's in the Uk. Really low pings on buyandsell aswell.

Ummm... this could be very interesting if pings from the UK to the server are half playable.

If team3.ie were having a game we could have it as our home server, giving us LAN pings for half the match.

Very handy.

I just got quake3 working in maynooth, only had the demo version so could not join server but dos ping is about 10-20 ms. Sweet!

The story with the pings is that if lan usage here or line useage out spikes the pings climb and spike, it may last 30 mins at a time. blame guinnessman the pornlord of plassey

I was playing on it a bit last night against 2 ULers (who wil remain nameless)

I had a fairly solid 200 ish ping (which is good) and they had a 5 ping each

Guess who won?
