DSL configuration for small business server

I hope someone can help me with this.

We have a new router in work for a DSL connection to replace a dial up connection. We are using small business server 4.5 with proxy server 2 and exchange server 5.5.

I put a second NIC into the server, configured this with a unique IP address (192.168.0.30), subnet mask (255.255.255.0) and the default gateway of the router (192.168.0.1).

I then removed the default gateway from the first NIC. Then I changed the proxy server to never dial out and edited the LAT on web proxy to exclude the second NIC address.

Am I missing something as I can't connect to the router through a browser and get onto the net. Should RIP for Internet be installed as a service?

Any help appreciated as it's driving me mad.

Can you ping the router/external IPs?
No, you don't need to configure anything to do with RIP to get it working.
What type of router is it, can you post up the config?

Well it just shows how working on weekends is not the brightest idea. I configured the 2nd NIC and router with the wrong IP addresses. I put down 194 instead of 192.

Will change them at luchtime and give it another go. I'll let you know how I get on later.

hmm, not really sure what your doing here. You have a Dsl connection connected to a 2nd NIC on a server. Your trying to set proxy to stop using the dial up connection, and use the 2nd nic instead, so your lan pcs can connect to the internet.

I had that exact same situation but never got Microsoft's built in proxy to work for some reason. I ended up installing a 3rd party proxy program.
