I going through a heavy gym program at the moment (5-6 times a week), and I'm looking for some suggestions for healthy mid morning and mid afternoon snacks. I'm asking because I'm a bit sick of fruit and want a change. :)

    Any suggestions?

    - Dave.

    popcorn
banana blended with milk and a little honey (like in bananayoghurt's sig). This doesn't feel like eating fruit.

Kellogs nutri-grain bars are good - though watch some of these 'breakfast type' bars - some have nutritional values not far off those of chocolate bars. I find the plain 'apple, blueberry, strawberry' original ones are best - and these are also great if you need an energy boost before an exercise session.

Also juices / smoothies are good - though remember that the less processed the better (I always judge by the shelflife - make sure it is sold in a fridge and don't go for anything that has a best before date more than a week away, Tropicana is good, freshly squeezed from a Juice bar is best).

    Glass of milk

    1 cup Natural peanut butter
    8 tablespoons honey
    1&1/4 cups whey protein powder
    1 cup of uncooked oatmeal

Mix the pb and honey in a bowl, microwave on full for 80 secs.
Add the rest and mix together (get your hands in man!!) can add
raisins/nuts etc to taste. Smooth into 13x9 tray and leave for 20 mins.
Cut into 10 to 12 equal bars and wrap and store in fridge!!

    here is the break down:
    protein 20g,
    carbs 30g
fat 20g of which only 3g are saturated.
Those figures are per bar, don't forget your 128g fat divides
into 10 to 12 bars and most of the fat in pb is healthy fat which
the body uses similar to carbs. The ammounts may vary slightly
    depending on recipe adjustments.

    Yogurt
    Fig rolls
    Jaffa cakes

if you have access to a microwave, reheated pasta with a little Ragu/cheese/pesto sauce to taste.

Your suggestion sounds nice, BaZmO* :)
I might give that a go.

Not a huge pasta fan (although I love lasagne)

I buy alot of juice from Superquinn (the fresh squeezed-the-same-day stuff). I also buy their smoothies.... I really should start making my own.

I'll buy some yoghurts for next week too.
