I'd like to let people know that there is a relatively new
community co-operative in Wicklow Town called Meitheal Chill Mhantain.

Its main activity is group ordering of organic/wholefoods. We get the
same sorts of stuff you see in the Healthfood shops or the Dublin Food Co-op,
but considerably cheaper since we buy wholesale and only add a small percentage
to cover our costs. Any extra money is put back into the group or used to give
volunteer helpers a discount against their food bills.

We have some other things going, mainly a website and newsletter to facilitate
sharing of resources and knowledge. We are planning to have a mini-market where
members can sell home-produce to each other, and as we get bigger
we hope to set up a local barter economy as well.

We're very open to new ideas and members (no cost to join), especially people
who can put in a bit of time. Note that although we are based in Wicklow Town
and food must be picked up from there, we do have members from outside the town (e.g. Arklow, Greystones, Bray).

    More info is at http://meitheal.net.
The online food shop is linked from there.
