Modem Quake

I have taken quite a break from the Q thing but now I'd enjoy very much a play of a game of the damn thing, but hey, got my modem but aint got no buddys to blow me out of it. What is the simplest way to get goin with a modem?? Where can I get them files needed to do such wonderful things???

And just to show that we're not all ****3rs to newbies:

By "Q" I presume you mean Quake 1. Well while I never done it myself I think Quakeworld is the current best way to get the aul brown beast on to the internet. Also get a copy of Gamespy.

Damo its good to see u getting back into the action , no doubt u'll be slugging it out with zero and ol again , head over to http://www.quakeworld.net and get qiuakeworld 2.3, (i assume u have quake) then head to http://cloud.ign.ie/servers .
