Im abit wary. Web vulnerability? Cross site scripting? That price just seems too low to be true.

edit---Well maybe it is a stupid dell error after all!!! hehe

They may have if only one or two people ordered (1 each!). Afaik, they are not legally obliged to do so.

    from their own T's & C's

"Orders may be received by writing, internet, telephone or fax but are only binding when accepted by Dell in a written Order Confirmation. "

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,844 ✭✭✭s8n

this is never gonna be honoured...it's all over the place now. I've had 5 emails about it in the last 20 mins alone.

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 18,001 Mod ✭✭✭✭ixoy

Never gonna be honoured - which is kinda just as well as I don't know my credit card number (left it at home).

There's a few clauses in the Terms and Conditions which will let them out of it:
    Quotations/Orders/Contract
Quotations are only valid in writing and during the period that they state. If unstated, the period is 10 days (incl. 3rd Party Products). Orders may be received by writing, internet, telephone or fax but are only binding when accepted by Dell in a written Order Confirmation. Please check the Order Confirmation and notify Dell of any mistake in writing immediately or the details stated in the Order Confirmation will apply to this Agreement. Dell reserves the right to change Products (incl. 3rd Party Products) at any time but Dell guarantees you at least equivalent functionality and performance.

Or they can say the price of goods has changed:
Changes to exchange rates, duties, insurance, freight and purchase costs (incl. for components and Services) may cause Dell to adjust prices accordingly.

    .. Ah well!

or reduce service/support to 1yr collect & return and they will pay you €87 to take the machine away, less delivery of course.

they can't deduct the full price of the system from your card can they??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 232 ✭✭red vex

can they not be sued for false advertising r nething, because it is also a great way of getting huge amounts of publicity

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 648 ✭✭✭ChicoMendez

is one obliged to buy that pc ? even if they do not honour thier bargain price?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,461 ✭✭✭Frank Grimes

The store's been taken down now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 305 ✭✭Shigsy

Too late, they spot the mistake and took their online store offline while they fix it. Anyone who got an order in on time, reply here to let us all know if you get a confirmation email, or better still, the computer itself :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 379 ✭✭jim_bob

    they won't honour it

same thing happened with elara and when i order of them got confirmation sent in email saying it was been processed and never heard anything back

that was about 6 months back

but i still live in hope it will arrive in the door some day :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,569 ✭✭✭maxheadroom

There's no way this will be honoured - all the internet orders are manually entered into the ordering system. Theres no way that a person on order entry is gonna let this slip by unless they were out drinking the night before ;)

That said, I still ordered one, just in case. Will keep you posted :)

AFAIK they only have to honour it if they've already charged the order to your card.

just as well they closed before i finished filling out my details! i'm sure if you kick up enough of a fuss they won't charge you

Ah scheissen pause, lucky i just ran outta time if u gotta pay to cancel! tell them its their mistake so they can F.u.c.k off
    hi carrotcake! hast du durchfall????

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 493 ✭✭muffen

    I managed to order aswell.

I never thought they'd honour it, but it sure was funny :)

If they charge me a cancellation fee, this is going to every mediasite I can think of, including the screenshots I took of each page while ordering.

I'm gonna wait to see what happens, but it was funny while it lasted :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,718 ✭✭✭whosurpaddy

Nice signature there Robio, it takes up my entire screen here and weighs in at a hefty 30k :p

As for the Dell systems, they were never going to honour them, but fair play to the chancers who tried to order them ;)

As they say, it's not a legally binding contract until you get the order confirmation.
I don't see how they can charge you anything if there is no legally binding contract.

According to the Consumer Association of Ireland that is not legal. They have to give you the option to either pay for it at the higher price or cancel it. And they cannot make you pay a cancellation charge to do so. It was their mistake not the consumers.

I printed off my receipt , does this not mean they have to guarantee the pc or its fraud on their part?

Yeah, but I'd say with the volume of those PCs that were ordered there's not chance it'll happen in this case.
Unless Dell really wanted to shift all those Dimensions that is :)

Nope, its not fraud on their part, and you won't get it.
Knowing Dell's past history regarding pricing screwups, the best you can hope for is a discount.

AFAIK, no. It's the next receipt they send out (the one that it says wait 2-3 working days for) that guarantees it.
