Job advice needed: strange!

Here's the story: I've found the perfect job; good money, unsupervised, working in an industry I'm enthusiastic about, very close to home, job description exactly matches what I'm looking for, loads of opportunity for learning and possible career advancement and I have all the technical skills the employer's asking for. They've already interviewed three people for the position. The only thing is the agency that's supplying candidates have said they don't know if they're going to interview anyone else yet. I submitted my CV to the agency after the three were interviewed so don't know if the employer's even seen my details. Now I know I'm the best person for the job but my dilemma is whether or not I should phone the company directly and ask if they're going to interview more people and if not, try to convince them that I'm worth making an exception for. Should I contact them, and run the risk of going over the agency's head and being seen as a canvasser or should I wait it out and 'if it's meant to be, it's meant to be'? Because I feel it's the perfect position, I'm not thinking clearly and panicking so clarity is what I'm looking for here. :) Any help would be great guys. ;)

I would definitely contact the company in question if you feel the job is perfect for you. Don’t let it slip as you may regret it.

Hopefully the company will appreciate your initiative. It may backfire and the agency may not want to work with you anymore but the odds are probably in favour of contacting the company. The liklihood of the agency putting you forward at this stage is probably slim.

Thanks for the help lads; I took ye're advice and phoned.

The person I got through to was suspicious of my motives to say the least (when asked, she only identified herself as the Head Office Manager :D ). The long and short of it is the person I need to talk to is out sick so far this week - hence the lack of action so far. The HOM is getting her to contact me when she returns to the office so I'll get my CV in even if it hasn't been submitted already. If nothing else, it's put my mind at ease a bit and raised my profile above the other applicants. Not sure if that's a good thing in this case though. :D

Thanks again for the advice. ;)

Sorry for the late reply. Unsurprisingly she never rang me back. It turns out they've interviewed three more whose interviews were confirmed before I applied. Realistically, it's looking doubtful but hey, it's their loss. :D All I can do is hound the agency to push me forward if they want to meet anyone else.

Did you get back to her, just to remind her?

If you really think this is the best job for you and your are the best man for the job then talk to them again.
