    Hrm the drop downs stopped loading just now.
    Was working fine then the vanished.

    I haven't changed anything and it seems to be throughout the site.

    using mozilla 1.5

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,046 ✭✭✭Dustaz

    Woah, it's just gone all funky with these nifty black arrows.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,049 ✭✭✭Cloud

    We've upgraded our menu to the latest version, so it should be visible on even more browsers.

    New feature - current location is highlighted on the menu.

    Oh, I updated the boards logos as well, to enhance our eyes brand :)

    I'm getting error reports and menu lag on the drop down boxes but only on the www.boards.ie page.

    Is this only in the "subbed" menu?

    Konqueror weirdness: (v3.1.3 on KDE 3.1.3).

    Doesn't seem to support the 3rd-level menus. (like boards.ie >> Bulletin Boards >> menu )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,049 ✭✭✭Cloud

    Just as a matter of interest, did the old menu work on Konq 3?

    Nope, should work for all forums you navigate to via the menu.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,831 ✭✭✭Lucutus

    Not so sure about the black arrows in the root, (horizontal), menu. They're great in the dropdowns tho.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,049 ✭✭✭Cloud

    A new arrow can be designed for the root menu later on...

    Hmm - only getting it on the subbed menu (using Firebird 0.7). IE 6 is showing the location on all menus...

    while you're rooting around in the dropdown menu, could you expand the 'for sale' entry please ?

    I tested konqueror 3.1.2 earlier and the menus were a little slow to appear on first try a few times, but overall it was usable. (as in, mouse over the link, nothing happens, mouse off then on again and it would generally work).

    Maybe we need to tweak some of our settings. Currently:

    _menuCloseDelay=500 // The time delay for menus to remain visible on mouse out
    _menuOpenDelay=0 // The time delay before menus open on mouse over
    _followSpeed=5 // Follow scrolling speed
    _followRate=40 // Follow scrolling Rate
    _subOffsetTop=10 // Sub menu top offset
    _subOffsetLeft=-10 // Sub menu left offset
    _scrollAmount=3 // Only needed for Netscape 4.x
    _scrollDelay=20 // Only needed for Netcsape 4.x

    I like the new arrows, much better than the black ones. :)

    The dropdowns seem to work fine from the main page but nowhere else.
    I can see the titles in the other areas but they wont expand when the mouse is over them...
    Using Opera;
    Version information
    Version 7.20
    Build 3087
    Platform Win32
    System Windows XP

    Java Sun Java Runtime Environment version 1.4

    Some of the menus aren't expanding when the mouse runs over them (under Community and Arts they do, but under Sci/Tech they don't & Education doesn't expand under Society)

    Logged in: yes
    Browser: Opera 7.21 and IE6 (works on neither)
    Skin: smallville (but doesn't work from the front page either)
    OS: win2k
    example menu: run the mouse over Science under Sci/Tech

    Just FYI and all that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,277 ✭✭✭DiscoStu

    the menus wont seem to appear on the left if there is no room on the right. put your screen res up to 1280x1076 and its fine though.

    Getting the same using Firebird and the subbed menu moves when I scroll the middle mouse down

    See attached picture.

    The menus now seem to be immune to shift+ctrl+click to open in a background window in Opera (7.11 - note to self - install new release) :(

    Same problem with non expanding menus on Firebird here plus I can't open any of the boards from the menus I can see.

    I'm using XP and the minimalist skin.

    yeah - makes sense to me to just add in the dropdowns... disussed here

    don't see how a tiny text para under a link makes people stop and read it in any more / less detail than they would a sticky - a more usable solution / in your face message would be a better course of action

    also, the home page icon still links directly to into the For Sale forum from the homepage...

    I can't get to the Broadband forum through the normal method, menu is not expanding

    IE 5.5 on Win2k

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,049 ✭✭✭Cloud

    I am addressing the right pop-out issue at the moment, that seems to be the most common problem...

    Try the subbed menu now Ste- - I've enabled scrolling since it is the only menu that can become too long for the browser window.

    Scrolling!!!

    WOOT!!!

    thx.

    When I try to get into broadband on the menu I get a javascript error line 17.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,446 ✭✭✭✭amp

    That Right pop thing generates this javascript error:

    Line: 17
    Char: 637
    Error: Invalid Argument
    Code: 0
    Url: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=82 (Or whatever page I'm currently on)

    Ironic that I'm getting invalid argument errors while trying to pop-out the Debating chamber. Not as ironic as getting stuck in traffic when your already late. But close.

    Browser details are: Ie6 sp1 with every single possible patch Microsofts minions have seen fit to release to the masses running on a similarly updated Win2k server.

    dropdowns gone at 11.54, friday 31st for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,049 ✭✭✭Cloud

    Yes, any menus popping out to the right when you are over near the right hand side of the browser window are throwing up that Line 17 error, not sure what it is (and the error is a bit vague because it doesn't say Line 17 of what part of the script)...

    Anyway I'll turn back on the old menu for all styles except Minimalist, and see if we can get the bug checked out...

    the sci/tech drop down menu level 2 does not appear when you you hover over any one with an arrow it seems also to cause the screen to expand on the horizontal to a huge size judging by the size of the roller bar on the bottom.

  • Posts: 0 [Deleted User]

    On mozilla 1.5 the question marks beside the sub menu's have now gone back to the arrows that were there before.

    mm

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,822 ✭✭✭sunbeam

    The menus are popping out ok on Firebird now (thanks!) but when I try to click on any of them my curser changes to something that looks like an insert point from a wordprocessing program or two square brackets back to back.

    did it always show the time & date of the last post when you move the mouse over items on the subbed menu?

    BTW if anyone else can figure out what the problem is with the new menu, please let us know (JavaScript kings) - www.boards.ie/vbulletin/index.php?styleid=17 (only visible on Minimalist style).

    Could ya move it back under the ad and user cp etc where it was before or even below the current forum links.

    Sucks way up there I think.
