Dumb Iol BB question userid/password

Got my modem today...(self install was piece of cake)...connection utility shows a green icon in system tray.
But IOLBB seems (not surprisingly) to need a user id and/or password.
Do IOL send this seperately? Or is it just well hidden in/on the modem packaging

Documentation mentions username should be <firstnamesurname>@iolbb no mention of the password.

Needless to say putting myname@iolbb gives a userid/password validation msg.

Held on tech support line for 45mins with no answer (is this how they get the free months rental back?)

Oh and anyone recommend a ethernet adsl modem (and only modem) to go with my 54G router? Most other ppl here seem to be using all in one modem/routers

They should have rang you b4 you got the modem to ask you what username/passord you would like. Keep ringing them. I don't see why they don't put it on the form, it would save alot of hassle.

They fell down with me on this point. One it asks in the online form to enter a user name and password. Two in the install manual supplied on the CD it states that they will give you a name and password and three the user name that defaults on the screen after first install is not the actual IOL username

When I rang tech support the guy did not even ask what I had in as user name, after one hour of fustration on trying passwords (after 6pm on Friday, could not have password reset) I rang back tech support to find out that I had to put <username>@iolbb, also the password is lower case.

After another hour and near quitting time, I ignored the lower case and out in upper and lower case letters, hey presto got in.

The really should make this clear in the install manual

    You have been warned

yep be warned indeed I dont remember it being very clear that the password and user name you give at registration is yours for life. There is now a mention on the installation guide to add @iolbb to your user name.

Also they told me today (sat) that they couldnt change my account password which I thought was odd.

Apart from that they have been pretty good...everything sorted and turned up in just over a week. Although cant access their email for some reason (password/userid again). Which is possibly related to all the above too :)
