ha ha i've a big green garden chair. actually its not so bad, pretty comfy with a few pillows, actually choose it over a proper all be it old office chair. Wasn't fancy leather tho :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,040 ✭✭✭SteM

We've got one of these in the office and I don't think they're very comfy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,276 ✭✭✭damnyanks

Whats wrong with them !?! :D

    Look nice:D

Yeah, it looks fine. The back and seat aren't very padded though so I find it a wee bit uncomfortable. The arms of the chair slope down so that feels awkward too.

€66 for a leather chair, suppose you can't complain too much.

I got one of those a while back.
Excellent chair for the money. Next day delivery too!

I have been purchasing from Viking Direct for over ten years, and that chair is excellent value. Buy something extra at the same time pushing your order above €60 (Excluding VAT!) and you will get a box of 500 Lyons green label 2 cup tea bags Free as well. I bought a box of 500 white envelopes for €14.99, and got a luverly box of shortbread bikkies free on top, as well!. Some deal, Eh. Unbeatable?..

    www.vikingdirect.ie

    Yeah, they are the business!.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,761 ✭✭✭Col_Loki

Yea i got on of those & a free huge box of tea bags :) .
At first its not too comfy, a bit hard - but after jumping on the cushions for a while they got softer and now its grand :) . Was on special for 49euro's + vat btw, check their specials catalogue.

What's it like? Is it comfortable? I'm still on the fence about buying one. I do need a chair but don't want to waste what little money I have.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 483 ✭✭aclane

I'm happy with. For €66 it's very good quality and quite comfy too.

    Highly recommended:D

    JohnK,

Please note form the Viking Direct catalogue.
    Free 30-Day Trial.
Try anything for 30 days!. If you are not completely satisfied - for any reason - we will cancel the bill and you will owe nothing. We will even come and pick it up absolutely free.

Why not give them a ring on 1800-709004 and ask them about this. You see I do not have to pay for anything for 30 days anyway, as I have had an account with them for longer than 10 years.

Hope that helps, ask them for a recent catalogue, or visit them online at: www.vikingdirect.ie

Just hope that they have not sold out of that Special Offer* Chair, at that crazy price by now?.. I am afraid this often happens with their one offs!.

    P.;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 596 ✭✭✭fi

the chair is fantastic. very comfortable and when i sit on mine i can even rest my head, great for someone who spends too much time on the pc!!!

As for the 30 day try, i have been with Viking for 8 years and only found this out when i ordered the chair, its fantastic, as its like a credit card without the interest.

when i looked at my invoice it says the recommended retail price is €280 so its a bargain for sure, i asked them why they were selling it so cheap adn they told me it was because they bought so many of them in bulk they can pass on the discount.

remember if you are ordering it or setting up your new account, to ask for your free tv, it is an offer open to anyone who places an order.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,797 ✭✭✭Paddy20

    fi,

Whats this about a free TV ?..as I am not one to overlook something for FREE. Is it only available to people or Companies opening up a New* Account?...

First I have heard of it. Are the details in their catalogue or on their Website. More details please, as I can open another account very quickly, and a free TV, well say no more.

    I WANT ONE!.

    P.;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 494 ✭✭Lukin Black

It's a black and white portable tv/radio, and it's about 9" high. It's on the cover of a catalogue they've put out recently, and say it's free with your first order.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 596 ✭✭✭fi

yes the offer is as above, but it also comes with an adapter for the cigerate light in your car, great for keepoing the kids quiet.

it an offer to all thier members i think. as i said im with them 8 years and i got it, i always get a free gift, when you ring up to order just tell them you want the tv as your gift.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,797 ✭✭✭Paddy20

    Many Thanks.

    Lukin & fi,

Must get mine, yeah, nice one - Gimme, Gimme.

I want to request a copy of the catalogue online but there is a star beside the company name which means I have to enter something. Is this just for comanies?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 596 ✭✭✭fi

It used to be for companies only but now anyone can open an account.

you just say you are not from a company you are resedential and all is well.

if you order over so much the delevery is free and its with in 24 hours.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,013 ✭✭✭✭eirebhoy

and do I get a free portable tv for opening an account and placing an order?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 494 ✭✭Lukin Black

They say to put in your name again in the company field to open an account, if you don't have a company name.

Delivery is free for orders over €60, else €5 charge, which is nothing especially considering it's next day delivery (or order before 12, same day delivery if in Dublin).

Anybody any idea if you can turn prices on with VAT on their site? And will they go looking for a vat exemption cert?

Also, has any body any idea what the chair on page 38 of the catalogue also on their website is like? Looks a lot better.

Viking send out seasonal catalogues, and inbetween you receive smaller special offer cats. these always have an offer of a free gift.

this one with the chair in it is offering the small tv yes, but with the next cat sent out it will be something new.

As regards the vat thing im sorry i dont know so i cant help you out there.

eek: oh also if you do order of them always check the small cat. as the codes are different and the prices are cheaper then the big book.:

Yeah, you have to get quote a code though. If nobody's posted it here before then, I'll get it for you tomorrow.

    OK, thanks very much.

The code is YD9-PRDESIGNTV. I think you just order it like an ordinary item, but I'm not 100% sure. Maybe fi or Paddy20 will know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 596 ✭✭✭fi

yes you can just order it that way on hte order or when you ring say you want the tv offer adn they pput it in for you.

even if there are no offers going or they have run out i always ask what they have, and i normally get something :p

I got the impression that the TV offer was only valid for August, had I known otherwise I woulda posted a thread on it! I ordered some ink (original Epson, sooo much cheaper than anywhere else!) and asked them if there were any freebies going. The girl checked it out and told me I'd get a free portable telly :D

It's a super little thing! It's a 15cm black&white screen with radio tuner, co-ax input, video input, audio input, headphone socket, and can run off a car's cigarette lighter socket or off 'C'-size batteries!!! :D

    I love Viking!

PS, always ask if there's a freebie they can throw in :)

    It is what it's.

Been forwarding to Ireland from {UK} for a lot longer than that.

What exactly. Is the point of your totally "Pointless" post anyway ?...

I do not see anything about a {bargain} in it.

    Makaveli,

    Re:- Stekellys, Pointless Post!.

Quote you:- " Are you going to add him to your ignore list now too ? "

    No.

You see people have to work really hard publicly, and also via what used to be, the highly respected PMs! route, before I would even consider them as coming close to qualifying for my extremely exclusive, ignore list.

Which might explain why there are only three [3] individuals and one [Forum] on my ignore list, after all this time.

I have a number of different chairs, including that particular one. Which for the money is very good value. As for which do I prefer!. Well to be honest my favourite is - The High Back Executive Chair , [GD7- 4711A] I think they now cost from €189.99 {Exc VAT} They are available in a number of colours in a comfortable fire retardant material. I seem to remember when I purchased 2 of those they were a hell of a lot cheaper. However, they are STILL Vikings most popular chair!. There must be a reason, Eh. They also feature them regularly as a Special Offer!.

    All the best.

Thanks a million m8's - got my chair today

Sturdy construction. Easy to assemble. Much better quality imho than the leather exec chair in Woodies for €199 I tried out a few weeks ago. A bit hard but apparently that wears off.

    Also got

The 15cm tv/radio with all adaptors (incl 12v car adaptor)
A huge box of 500 tea bags
A tasty box of of biscuits
    Bits and pieces of stationery

All for an incredible €72 including delivery + VAT

Must be the bargain of the year

    Got mine today.
It's about 100 times better than my old chair, which was getting on a bit.
Good back support on this one, which my previous ones havent had.
    Nice chair, I'm very happy.

And anyone interested in the TV only - PowerCity had them for 30 euros - might still have them.
The 'Pound' Shops sell them sometimes for between 25 and 35 euros.
Would be useful if it had a composite input so you could use it as a baby/door monitor with an old webcam... I know it doesnt have a scart input.

    ozmo.

Yup, I'm just comparing two chairs that are similar in price to their comfort. The Argos one I linked to I would recommend, but you don't get the luxury of home delivery. As an aside, I got nada freebies with my purchase.
