"best lift"

Can anybody tell me what the definition of a “best lift” is? And by that I mean, often you hear someone say that they benched 120kg or 150kg etc., etc. and I was wondering if that meant that they benched 120kg or 150kg by 1, 2, 3 or 10reps??? The reason I ask this is because it often seems that everybody has their own routine of sets and reps and what somebody says is their “best” is not necessarily better or worst when compared to someone else’s “best”. Or am I way off the mark here???

    B.

Yeah a personal best as with any sport is usually a one time effort. Like a personal best 100m sprint or personal best javelin throw a personal best lift is a 1RM or one rep maximum lift as crunch says.

A best lift is for one rep.
I'd like to see guys benching 150kgs for 10 reps. That is serious strength there. Very few guys in Ireland could do such a feat.
In fact very few of the powder puffs you see in gyms can even bench their own bodyweight let alone 3+ plates.

The goal for everyman is to bench a full set of wheels as in 405lbs.

Choose your goal from the pyramid

    - 60kgs or 135lbs - Woman
    [[--------]] - 100kgs or 225lbs - Girlie Man
    [--------] - 140kgs or 315lbs - Possibly have a pair
    [[--------]] - 180kgs or 405lbs - U R A GOD!
    [[[--------]]] - 220kgs or 495lbs - Big Dog
    [[[[--------]]]] - 260kgs or 585lbs - LEGEND
